They (Bush/Kerry) are going to spend about 500 Million to get those few million fence sitters - that like 100 dollars per fence sitter vote!

5. But it's also about keeping folks on your side
You have to invest in solidifying support and assuaging any and all doubts the "decideds" may have.
Some people are frail and fickle in their views.

People who pay attention to the news enough to actually vote in an online poll at CNN are much more likely to have well formed opinions on major issues than the general public.

Just extrapolating your point, i sure hope it wont be...but it might. And if it is about appearance, then Bush is vulnerable on war, economy, etc. These "undecideds" are almost just reflections of current situation of pro/con news. More pro, they go incumbent, more con, they go challenger...just a thought in such a polarized atmosphere.
