15. The MA legislature would not let him appoint an Republican without a fight
The veto-proof Democratic majorites are far from helpless in this matter.

4. Not until after the election due to the Repub Gov.
who, as I understand it, would have the power to appoint Kerry's successor until the next general election. If that is by statute the MA legislature can change the law to provide that a replacement must be from the same party as the Senator who resigns but if it is in the MA Constitution then little can be done no matter when Kerry might resign.

Why would you want him to resign before the election anyway? Lieberman didn't resign and not only that, he ran for Senate simultaneously with his run for veep. At least Kerry doesn't have to do that.

14. He should resign after the convention...
In my mind what Liberman did in 2000 hurt him and Gore, It made people think that Joe did not believe that they would win. Besides you cannot tend to your duties as a Senator and carry on a vigorous campaign.

16. Did it hurt John F. Kennedy?
Kennedy resigned after getting elected. What Lieberman did was different, because he was running in two elections simultaneously. Mass. isn't holding an election this year, so Kerry's fine.

6. Dole made a mistake in leaving the Senate. Kerry should stay in it.
Until he becomes president.

7. Actually, the Massachussettes Dems are trying to change the law
...so that Shit Romney can't appoint a puke to Kerry's seat. This could lead to some backlash. Maybe Kerry and the DLC should have thought about this before the Kerronation, arranged for Kerry to resign in November, and ran a decent candidate for his seat.

even if he wins the Presidency.
He is too power greedy to let go.

10. What?
What basis of fact do you have for that statement?

Never mind. Kerry bashers on DU need no fact, only empty rhetoric.

13. I hear John Kerry eats little children
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 09:59 AM by mobuto
He also worships Baal, reads the Lord's Prayer backwards, talks about conquering the world, and has cloven hooves.

- Typical Kerry-bashing hysteria
