Jan Barbato Conroy of Palm Beach worked for Massachusetts Sen. John F. Kerry in 1990 and was among 3,000 who attended a rally Monday where the Democratic presidential candidate talked about health care, lack of jobs, the environment, the war in Iraq, education and his disdain for President George W. Bush. As she sat outside the West Palm Beach Library on Clematis Street waiting for Kerry to arrive, Conroy said she will sign up to help with the Kerry campaign.
"I want to help him in any way I can," Conroy said. "He represents a lot of the issues I care about — the environment, women’s issues, equal rights issues. I support a variety of issues that he’s supported over the years."

Kerry immediately opened fire on the Bush administration with an analogy to spring break in Florida.
"On spring break you can lie around and watch the world go by, not do anything," Kerry said. "The only other place that I know of where you can do that is on the Bush economic team."
Referring to the commission investigating the Sept. 11 attacks, Kerry said, "If the President of the United States can find time to go to a rodeo, he can find time to do more than one hour in front of a commission that is investigating what happened to America’s intelligence and why we are not stronger today."
