I smiled real big today and voted my heart... Al Sharpton
In Texas the vote is no more than a straw poll. The real delegate selection process starts this evening at the precinct convention. I'll sign in as a Kerry delegate. But I got to vote my heart and Sharpton!

1. New to Texas
My husband and I are fairly new to Texas and I have no idea where our precinct convention is. Where would we find that information? Thanks in advance.

2. By law it should be posted on the door of your polling place
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 12:15 PM by Gman
the time (7:15 p.m.) and place (probably at the polling place). If its not, ask one of the people working the table when you walk in. And ask them why its not posted as it should be.

6. hey!
Welcome to Texas!

I was born and bred and am currently spending a few years in New York City, but my family and I plan to move back to the Lone Star State once the little one starts school.

Keep the place nice for me...and kick that Perry guy in the balls for me when you see him....thanks.

3. cool
But why not sign in as a Sharpton or Kucinich delegate and attempt to get 15% or more of delegates so as to influence party platform?

4. Dammit, you have to take a stand
once in a while, and hope it somehow makes a difference.

Good for you.

8. Good on you! Despite the too-frequent racism at DU, Al is a good man
and would make a fine, if probably also self-indulgent (á le Clinton) President.

9. What racism?
Is it racist to point out that the man is comprehensively unqualified to serve as President?

Exhibit A: Democratic debate, Jan. 22.

PETER JENNINGS: If during your term as president, if you become the
nominee, and you have the opportunity to nominate someone to be
chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, what kind of person would you
consider for the job? You can name someone in particular, if you have
someone in mind.

And maybe just take a minute or so to give us a little bit about your
views on monetary policy.

<snip>

SHARPTON: I think, first of all, we must have a person at the Monetary
Fund that is concerned about growth of all, not setting standards that
would, in my judgment, protect some and not elevate those that cannot,
in my view, expand and come to the levels of development and the
levels of where we need to be.

I think part of my problem with how we're operating at this point is
that the IMF and the policies that are emanating there do not lead to
the expansion that is necessary for our country and our global village
to rise to levels that underdeveloped countries and those businesses
in this country can have the development policies necessary.

JENNINGS: Forgive me, Reverend Sharpton, but the question was actually
about the Federal Reserve Board.

SHARPTON: I thought you said IMF, I'm sorry.

JENNINGS: No, I'm sorry, sir. And what you'd be looking for in a
chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.

SHARPTON: Oh, in the Federal Reserve Board, I would be looking for
someone that would set standards in this country, in terms of our
banking, our -- in how government regulates the Federal Reserve as we
see it under Greenspan, that we would not be protecting the big
businesses; we would not be protecting banking interests in a way that
would not, in my judgment, lead toward mass employment, mass
development and mass production.

I think that -- would I replace Greenspan, probably. Do I have a name?
No.

HUME: Thank you, Reverend Sharpton. Thanks very much.

11. LOL and the next day Dean said he'd replace Greenspan tooooo, and

the media went wild, suggesting that the comment could affect the markets.

Sharpton had actually said he'd replace Greenspan long before that debate, but no one paid any attention :)

13. Sharpton

Good for you! Sharpton has been a very important voice during the primaries and has been all but ignored by the media. Out of the three candidates still running, I would have voted for Sharpton today but he was not on the ballot.
