Kerry said: " I'm often asked how it feels to run for the highest office
"I don't have a clue. I'm not running for 'Secretary of State of Florida!' " John Kerry replied.
And Florida Democrat's and anti-Bush voters "roared" at the reminder of former
Florida Secretary of State, KKKatherine Harris, role in the 2000' presidential coup d'etat.

I just like that being I am from Florida.

1. Kerry can just stop THAT line of sucking up to Democratic voters...
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 01:29 PM by robsul82
The same guy who said "Quit crying in your teacups" and "get over it" wants to be my pal now? Apologize for what you said before, THEN make Katherine Harris jokes, sir.

Later.

2. You can just stop quoting Kerry out of context
the context of "teacups" was "don't get mad, get even." Seems reasonable don't you think?

3. It was Goddamned insulting to everyone who CARED about that election.
"Get over it" and "Quit crying in your teacups" is NOT the way to say "don't get mad, get even." If he WANTED to say that, then he should've said EXACTLY that. Point blank, hearing that from such a Democratic voice HURT.

6. Stop swearing at me. Thanks in advance.
When I say “Move on” from 2000, I’m as angry as anyone else. Votes ought to be counted. But my objective is to win. My objective is “Don’t get mad, get even.”

7. Where's my rolling eyes gesture?
C'mon, be a little mature here. Kerry's words were insulting to anyone who protested that damn election, anyone who walked in Washington on King Dubya's coronation day, ANYONE who cared. "Don't get mad, get even" means "Don't get mad, get even." Kerry CHOSE to use inflammatory and insulting words to voters who belong to his OWN party. That's how it is.

--------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.thestate.com/mld/state/5635691.htm

"Presidential candidate John Kerry attempted Monday to light a fire under a lethargic Democratic Party that he said had gotten lazy the past few years.
"Addressing party activists at a luncheon at Claflin University, the Massachusetts senator urged the party faithful to go out and fight for their beliefs.

"'The way to do it is to get mad, to get angry, to get active, to get out there and get off your ...,' he said to prolonged cheers, without completing the thought. 'Get going.'

"Kerry's sermonette was prompted by a questioner dismayed by the outcome of the 2000 presidential election won by George W. Bush and the drubbing Democrats took in the 2002 election. "Bush lost the popular vote to Democrat Al Gore, but captured the electoral vote after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the GOP's favor by denying a vote recount in Florida.

"'Just because the Supreme Court made the wrong decision in 2000 doesn't mean we have to live with it for the next six years,' Kerry said."

14. I emailed him last year and bitched about it
I told him I was supporting the election but the comments just were not appropriate. There were alot of irregularities that were never properly addressed. I am "past" the election but certainely not "over" it. I think the screaming from alot of us got his attention, he saw what was lifting Dean and it's made him a much better candidate!

4. That's the closest you'll get to an apology from a politician
I'll take it as a goodwill gesture of make-nicey. Now that HE's the potential victim of the next fix, he WILL do something about it. I don't care what the motives are, as long he's not pretending they won't try & pull the same shit again.

5. I take it as a gesture of "Hey guys, I'm cool too! Harris SUCKS!"
The only apology he can give is "I'm sorry I told the 50 million disenfranchised election2000 voters that they should 'get over it' and 'quit crying in your teacups.' It was insulting to a great number of the population, and I apologize for that. What I MEANT to say was . Again, I'm truly sorry for any hurt feelings my words might have caused. That being said, HARRIS FUCKING SUCKS!"

11. It's actually old
He's said this for a couple of years. Acknowledging what happened, but also saying the only thing to do now is quit feeling sorry for ourselves and get up and fight. You'd rather sit and suck your thumb?
