Hillary Clinton Supporters - Words of Inspiration from Maya Angelou
State Package for Hillary Clinton

You may write me down in history

With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may tread me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I'll rise.

This is not the first time you have seen Hillary Clinton seemingly at her wits' end, but she has always risen, always risen, don't forget she has always risen, much to the dismay of her adversaries and the delight of her friends.

Hillary Clinton will not give up on you and all she asks of you is that you do not give up on her.

There is a world of difference between being a woman and being an old female. If you're born a girl, grow up, and live long enough, you can become an old female. But to become a woman is a serious matter. A woman takes responsibility for the time she takes up and the space she occupies. Hillary Clinton is a woman. She has been there and done that and has still risen. She is in this race for the long haul. She intends to make a difference in our country. Hillary Clinton intends to help our country to be what it can become.

She declares she wants to see more smiles in the family, more courtesies between men and women, more honesty in the marketplace. She is the prayer of every woman and man who longs for fair play, healthy families, good schools, and a balanced economy.

She means to rise.

Don't give up on Hillary. In fact, if you help her to rise, you will rise with her and help her make this country the wonderful, wonderful place where every man and every woman can live freely without sanctimonious piety and without crippling fear.

Rise, Hillary.

Rise.

Hillary can not do this alone.

Maya Angelou is the best, love her.I thought her words would be a nice reminder to all of us during this time between primaries to keep fighting the good fight for Mrs Hill.

Oh and that video! It wasn't mine.I found it through LiveJournal and after I posted it here it seems someone reported it for copy right infringement.I understand, can't break the rules but it's SO sad it got taken down.I feel horrible.

I tried contacting the maker of the video to see if he could take the footage of Alicia off and add in more footage of Hillary and put it back up but I haven't heard from him yet.

Nothing wrong with what she believes and expresses.

However, if something similar were posted aboutn Obama, the charges of cult of personality and empty hope would come fast and furious.

And I won't be surprised if this post finds further snarky comments from some anti-Hillary people here who can't pass up another chance to beat up on her here, in a thread that has nothing whatsoever to do with them.

Really very gracious behaviour, hey?

69. ah yes,"interesting" to say the very least
... and a kind way of putting it.

Suffice it to say that Maya's heart is pure, transcends race and gender and at the same time does not try to innoculate Hillary from criticism by pretending her race to the WhiteHouse is not the Historic Campaign that it is...The contrast between the two womens endorsements of said candidates is quite 'black & white' in their differences.

*Please note down thread a poster has declared,in so many words, that Maya has forgotten her "blackness".

"Maya Angelou forgets what it is to be an African-American woman."

In essence she is a race traitor for backing the White More Qualified Woman over her "Own".

Chelsea Clinton to make 4 Wisconsin stops in next 2 days

The Associated Press

Chelsea Clinton is scheduled to make four stops in Wisconsin this week on behalf of her mother.

Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and current presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

According to the Wisconsin for Hillary campaign office, Chelsea Clinton plans to appear in Milwaukee, Madison, Eau Claire and La Crosse on Monday and Tuesday.

.....Despite her longstanding reputation as a highly private person, Chelsea has recently begun campaigning aggressively for her mother, taking a leave of absence from her job ........ to hit the trail full time. Her appearances in 20+ states across the nation have been aimed primarily towards college students, and reporters have noted hints of both of her parents-- the poise and confidence of Hillary echoed in Chelsea's impeccable knowledge and flawless delivery of her mother's talking points, the humor and personality of Bill evident in her pleasant, yet pointed, reply to an onlooker's request for a date.

40. i love maya angelou
her endorsement means a lot to me. i'm leaning more toward clinton lately, but then i kinda knew that once the race got down to two, i'd lean toward the underdog. in reality i'll be ecstatic when anyone but a republican enters the white house. i think either one of the democratic candidates will take the election in a landslide so huge that the repukes will not be able to cheat their way into a win.

i also have a stubborn feeling that won't go away, that she will make the better president of the two. she's been around the block a few times, and i think that makes a difference. but again, either one of them. i'll be glad when the candidate is decided and the race will really be on, and i truly believe that the democrats will run away with it.

Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 08:17 AM by Apollo11
Or are you simply pointing out what we already know?

That Hillary's campaign is sinking fast and superdelegates will soon start running for the lifeboats.

Edited to add: I did not realize that the whole OP was written by Maya Angelou.

I don't think that this poem will make much of a difference to primary voters.

We should be thinking about who can win against John McCain in November.

But in any case I will support whoever becomes the nominee.

55. Hello, this is Maya Angelou. Let me tell you about my girl, Hillary Clinton.

As a child, Hillary Clinton was taught that all God’s children are equal, so as a mother she understood that her child wasn’t safe unless all children were safe.

I know what kind of president Hillary Clinton will be because I know who she is. Hillary Clinton has always been a strong woman and a passionate protector of families. For 35 years, that is exactly what she has been doing.

Each generation stands on the shoulders of those who came before. Today, the challenges facing us threaten the dreams we have had for our children. We need a president with the experience and strength to meet those challenges.

I am inspired by Hillary Clinton - a daughter, a wife, a mother - my girl.

56. The plight of women...
Maya Angelou forgets that the plight of women is not the same for all women. She forgets the plight of African-American women. Who face discrimination every day in this country as African-Americans more than they do as women. Who would be better served by an African-American president than a Madame President.

Women do not need men. They certainly do not stand by men who abuse women. Too many women do that. And point to Hillary Clinton as an example of how doing so in the end is the right thing to do. For many, it turns out to be the wrong thing to do.

Maya Angelou forgets what it is to be an African-American woman.

62. Maya Angelou is a national treasure...
Maya Angelou is more than a national treasure, she is a model for all of us. Her tremendous power comes from her brilliant mastery of words that allows us to view the world as she knows it. What a wonderful gift she gives to us all.

When it comes to the sometimes caustic language of this campaign, we might step back and think about the negative views and images headlines as well as some of the heated commentary presents to us. We don't have to accept and be a part of this.

RECALL:

Language is very powerful,

Language does not just describe reality,

Language creates the reality it describes.

68. Laura Ingraham got a robocall from Maya Angelou...
She said it didn't sway her as much as the Chris Rock call for Obama.
