And indeed his campaign was different from Obama's - Jesse actually was experienced and had paid his dues, and had a coherent policy program that was both reflective of his past positions, and more progressive and more likely to be enacted than his opponents programs should they have been elected.

And Jesse did not try to gin up the black vote by claiming victim status - by claiming Dukakis had a surrogate that had dropped a phrase that could be stretched to mean disrespect to blacks - by claiming his opponent had played the "race card" or by having those in his campaign sell the media on that idea.

Indeed Jesse did not own the corporate media like Obama has for last 6 months - the media was not anti-Greek/anti-Dukakis and the Dulakis family. Yet Jesse won Michigan - while Obama did not manage to get a plurality of folks in Michigan voting "uncommitted" despite the Obama fierce campaign and the 90% black vote for that idea.

Yes, Obama is no Jesse.
