Clark compares faith, values to Tennesseans'
Presidential hopeful Wesley Clark yesterday knocked President Bush as ''one of the great dividers and polarizers in American history,'' and offered his own candidacy as one to pull America together.

Saying he's running as a ''son of the South,'' the retired general from Arkansas drew more than 400 people into a hot, crammed conference room downtown, arguably the largest public rally for a Democratic candidate in Nashville so far this election season.

3. I'll bet Clark could carry Gore's home state.
That is 10 electorial votes ?????? And probably Arkansas and Missouri.

4. Think the "true grits" tour is working for him.
Perhaps he is the solution to getting the NASCAR dads. I thought Senator Graham would, he did make some inroads into it. So perhaps the Graham followers will promote Clark.

6. I think you're right.
State Sen. Thelma Harper, D-Nashville, introduced dignitaries in the crowd,
including four members of Gov. Phil Bredesen's Cabinet and a group of black
ministers. Afterward, she said she is endorsing Clark.

''I was a Bob Graham woman,'' Harper said of the Florida senator, who has since
dropped out. She said she has ''faith and trust'' in Clark.

And this fits well with his appeal to hunters and anglers:

Talking to reporters, Clark said the environment is one area where Bush has been
most divisive and has catered to special interests, rather than to those of the
nation.

''The EPA is cutting inspectors, dropping lawsuits, cutting sweetheart deals, and
doesn't care about clean air, clean water, protecting wetlands, healthy forests,
beaches,'' Clark said.
