I have an idea for Kerry's ads.....
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 10:34 AM by slinkerwink
Alright, we should do ads about an imaginary Kerry presidency, in which "great" things could happen. For instance, we could have an ad showing the economy doing better under a President Kerry, and montages of renewable energy plants, in which happy workers say that they're glad to be helping save the environment, etc. Also ads of mothers saying how well they're doing with their families thanks to family planning under Kerry, and them saying, "I don't have to worry anymore about where I'll get my pills, etc, or about getting health checkups for breast cancer, thanks to Kerry's health care plan."

Then scenes of beautiful parks and landscapes where Kerry says he'd prevent drilling. Also, an image of a waving American flag with an opaque shot of Kerry. If we present voters with ads of a future Kerry presidency----trust me, that'll look a hell lot better than this * presidency.

Is this too much?

FYI, I still don't like Kerry and will not volunteer for him, but I'm just throwing this around as an idea.

1. And thanks to President Kerry I have a job again!
I can dream, can't I? Tax offshoring. Limit H-1B visas. Make it harder for companies to give our jobs away.

3. .
Good way to counter the images of fear and negativity presented by the Bush ads.
You have to make the strenghts of the Dem party the issues that matter most for the American public. In an atmoshere of fear where people seem to be more inclined to vote for the Repubs in a "time of war", chances for the Reps are better.
Show them issues that matter them now and are of direct importance for them like unemployment, economy, environment, foreign policy and healthcare. If these will be the most important issues, the Dems should win easily.

Would also be a great contrast what it's like living in a Bush or Kerry presidency.
Bush = fear
Kerry = hope

4. if you're not part of the solution
there's an old saying "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem" ...

FYI, I still don't like Kerry and will not volunteer for him ...

i have to tell you i continue to be astounded by those DU'ers who take this position ... kerry is not my preferred candidate either ... i voted for the Kooch ... i detested Kerry's vote on the IWR ...

but i just cannot grasp the concept of not doing everything you possibly can do to get bush out of our lives ... it just doesn't make any sense ...

i suppose analogies always have their limits but consider the following:

someone you're not all that fond of is dangling over the edge of a cliff about to fall to their death ... you have a rope right next to you that you could easily provide to them ... instead, you say "well, i hate to see anyone die so senselessly" ... you're intent is fine but what the hell does it accomplish ???

doing all you can to get bush out doesn't have to mean you're enthralled with Kerry ...

5. Hey, come on. Lighten up.
If she is going to vote for him she is part of the solution. Plus she is contributing her ideas.

9. OK ... i'll lighten up
my real intent here was not to criticize ... i myself considered not voting for Kerry because of his IWR vote ...

my real intent was to convey my bewilderment to those who did not arrive where i've arrived ... i genuinely do not understand this position ... it seems sort of like giving a patient half of their medication ... it's probably helpful, but it may not be enough ...

if i seemed to make my views personal, i apologize ...

but i do hope we can convince those who seek not to "throw themselves on the machine" that it's important to do so ... this is "THE" election folks ... i believe we will be in a disasterous situation if Kerry fails to win ...

and it's not just that i hate bush and his policies ... i deeply believe the social safety net will be destroyed for decades to come ... and we will be banished from the global community ... the U.S. will quickly fail if that were to happen ... and we will fail to heed the warnings of environmentalists on global warming and peak oil ... i can see no darker picture ... and so, Kerry's Iraq vote or his failure to "stand up" a little taller on gay issues or any of his other imperfect positions just doesn't matter ...

i can understand a lack of enthusiasm on a variety of Kerry's issues ... but i just cannot condone a passive approach to the evil empire ...

btw, i did think the base poster's ideas for a Kerry ad were creative ... i think it would make an interesting comparison with an identical "look into the future" if we were stuck with 4 more years of bush ... imagine showing one video and then the other ...

7. She is voting for Kerry, and (I believe) is going to help
on other progressive causes. You know, there's a Congress and State Governments that need to be reclaimed too.

As for me, I'm for Kerry 100%

6. i like your idea!
i was thinking along those lines too. what got me thinking was a commentator talking about what a long campaign this would be with the dem candidate decided so early. how could this time be used to advantage and hedge against "october surprise".

I imagined a consistent spot (print, radio, and tv) that highlighted bush's weekly deeds (the ones he most wanted to keep hidden) and applied Kerry's demonstrated alternative action. Kerry's alternative action would be demonstrated throught actual votes or documented actions. Kerry's long public presence can yield a bounty of opportunities to show him doing/being good. this is a way to tell people about it. directly showcasing his actions against bushs. FACT VS FACT. 7 months of consistent comparison can create a strong foundation of support for Kerry to withstand whatever tricks and manipulation will be thrown into the fray. and it creates a consistent, credible pattern for his response.
