3. I would allow people to post comments
The thinking behind the idea, to use the blogsphere, DU, etc to provide rapid response, is excellent. However, It relies upon people within the campaign ( would that be you by any chance? ) making the judgement calls.

14. agree
I'd like to see a forum on the Kerry site where specific examples of media lie-repetition are pointed out, with links, to facilitate supporters' emailing corrections. Perhaps it could be a separate board where people could post with a link to the specific Republican Fiction on the D-bunker for others' reference; or a separate threaad linked from each of the Republican Fiction items where examples of its repetition can be tracked (and responded to).

Oh how I wish we'd had something like that during the 2000 campaign!

4. What I think might be helpful
Out here in Northern Cali we have a volunteer network well in place, with a writer's group, a speaker's group, and lots of tablers going out on weekends.

What could be helpful is a bullet-point summary of the campaign's response to Bush lies for the week, that would be coordinated with the campaign's positive message of the moment. We could then distribute that around to those writing LTE's, those speaking at local meetings, and those standing on the street corners, who could have a few index cards to help keep them on message.

There then might also be a place for feedback, so, for example, if folks doing tabling found a certain response to be very compelling they could let the campaign know, hey, this message really resonates. Or vice versa...

Thanks for asking!

Bruce

10. Some picky picky help.
FICTION title seems out of place. Like, Kerry is about to tell me fiction.
REPUBLICAN FICTION: works better.

More parallelity between factoid and fact. Hard to follow. Harder to remember by the water cooler.

Less hyperbole: completely false, differs from false how?
Less cutsie stuff until done with fact meat: "weapons of deception and distortion" Yes, I already know your bias... I'm waiting....
hyperbolic wording again: "they can’t have an honest debate" Yes they CAN, they won't.
Locate GOOD names not near bad concepts: "...Kerry’s statement out of context. John Kerry..."

Now MEGO (my eyes glaze over) even I don't want to read the rest.

INSTEAD:
REPUBLICANS SAY: "JK will raise taxes by at least $900 billion.”

JK SAYS: The middle class will not have taxes increased, corporations and upper level incomes should pay. The $900 billion figure was made up by them. Don't believe it.

...They use weapons of mass distraction, destruction, deception, and distortion ... ladidadida...

Alright, I am picky. So flame me. (Gas is expensive, I could use the heat.)

8. Must Counter UNPRINCIPLED Ad with strong Character testimonies for JK
Edited on Sat Mar-13-04 03:28 PM by WiseMen
The foundation of any "debunking" of Bush falsehoods is the premise that
Kerry is trustworthy.

The Bush UNPRINCIPLED ad is a real opening to do an ode to the senator as a
principled, courageous, truth-teller, who is beholden only to the people. A positive affirmation of who Kerry is critical at this time.

We should drive a trunk through this gate!

We should get as quotes from leaders from both parties. Idealy
testimonials should be from people who would be credible to
independents:
John McCain,
Zell Miller,
Jim Rassmann,
Nelson Mandela,
some vets,
some celebs).

It is critical to convince the average voter that John Kerry
is a man you can trust.

I took a shot at this approach in my rebuttal to the Flip-Flop charge. The posting
on DU as a decent thread going. One challenge is that Gov. Dean was
circulating that old republican line against John during the campaign.

I would be good if we could have him dissavow the charges made during the
primary fight.

16. It's great!
But what we need in addition is organized Kerry Kamikazes. I was just reading the Medicare scandal and the person who said there's a scandal a day. Well that's the problem, there's SO MUCH that the individual can't keep it all straight in their minds. I bet we've forgotten more crazy shit this Administration has done than what we remember. But if we had it all organized with actions to take, then people could come and sign up to get the word out on one particular craziness. They could learn EVERYTHING about that particular scandal and then write LTTE's, make phone calls to C-Span, and whatever else we come up with. Remember "If Bush Read The Paper"? I bet there's alot of outrageous stuff in there that these people have done. That might be an easy place to start.

Taking out this Administration is like taking out the Hayman Fire. It's going to take more organization than the Democratic Party has ever put together before. That's what I think anyway.

19. Hey - that's great!
I would advertise it - have Kerry's team do a national ad that tells the public about the bush team attacks and if people want to know the truth just go to the site. Short and to the point - cheaper too!

21. Some ideas
It's a handsomely designed blog, and has a good message. I dunno about having comments, as that would open up a can of worms you might not be able to close. However, you could put, somewhere on the blog, positive letters to John Kerry/ or comments about him taken from real quotes. Because there's been so much negative. it would be good to have people saying what they like about him. You could use the themes of optimism, regime change, the environment, beating the giant Repub. machine, etc. Something that would bolster the real feelings of optimism people have with Kerry running against these well financed Republicans.
Also, on the d-bunker, you might be smart to underplay these facts a bit. Not seem on the defensive, but understating (being subtle)with the actual facts. Another possibility would be having a small, as in low pixel, graphic that is always on the page, to add interest...but doesn't take forever to load. Or, you could find some photo's of Kerry where he is showing a vulnerable side, maybe with a pet? or just being out in nature. People always go for sloppy stuff like that, don't ask me why. Anyhow, just my 2 cents.

22. I think what would definately help would be if email addresses
were placed prominantly on the right hand side of the site of all the major cable, network, and print newsmedia (ex: CNN, MSNBC, Fox News(just for laughs), ABC News, NBC News, CBS News, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal).

I think this would prompt more people to immediately write a few emails to various media outlets, using the information they can see on the site. And although they will all be similar, they will not be form letters, which will make each message more effective.
