I am a delegate for Kucinich!
WOw, that was amazing! I thought there might be 4 or 5 of us at our district caucus and that would be a lucky number. I guess all the hard work paid off more than I anticipated. Our district had 70 people show up. There were 10 of us for DK, 5 for Clark, 3 for Dean and the rest were for Kerry. We did some caucusing and ended up with only delegates for Kerry and Kucinich. Dennis Kucinich ended up with 3 delegates and I was elected as one of them. I have never been so excited! I heard from one of the other districts in our city that Kerry got all of the delegates but Kucinich was only 1 shy of being viable and the only other group represented there was my friend who sat by herself for Edwards. ANother district in a very rural area but close to Lawrence went 50-50 for Kerry and Kucinich, 2 delegates each. So, I must go but was excited to report. Kansas is going to be a blue state this year, the western Kansas reports from the farmlands are vote D or stay home.

43. we're counting on you, give us a good fight on the new party platform..
A plank for national healthcare, another for IRV, one for giving all candidates more time on the public airwaves and regulating mass media, one laying out our strategy for getting the U.S. out of Iraq, and another supporting Election Day as a national holiday.

44. Don't count
too hard. This was just our first round. All of this is out there, we worked really hard yesterday and grabbed folks as they hit the door. I go on to the next caucus April 3rd, I hope to get further but that remains to be seen. The thing that was so amazing, every single person I spoke with agreed with all of these issues. I am not here to dis Kerry, not at all, but the voters went to him partly because they are terrified.

...I was a Jesse Jackson delegate from my state leg. district, since i helped the Jackson folks top their limit, so they got to send to delegates....

...this was to the regional caucus. I never went (I had an alternate) since I had moved out of state.

But,...props to you, dude (or dudette)! Sounds great for you!....& Dennis!

Thanks, this is the first time I have ventured into something like this. We have two more caucus meetings to go, I would love to see enough numbers that I can continue past the next one.

Speaking of Kucinich, that bearded kid with the ski cap at the Iowa caucuses on C-SPAN should run for office. He was great. He should've compromised for Gephardt though.

*Wonderful* news! What a boost for my day!

WE're really gearing up here for our caucus, and for the visit from the man of the hour... Dennis John Kucinich! It's hard work, and it's tiring, so hearing your great outcome is a good uplifter!

You worked very hard, and I'm so glad that you are able to see the results of your efforts!

Thanks so much for the report, and keep us informed of developments there!

33. Congratulations MuseRider!
Today in MN I was a delegate at my state senate district convention. Among other things, we chose delegates for the state convention in Duluth in late May. Seven of the 19 state delegates selected at the district convention are Kucinich delegates including myself. In Duluth we will select 8 possibly 9 Kucinich delegates to go to Boston.

34. It would be so
cool for you to go to Boston! It seems we only got about 10% state wise, I have not looked yet today. Sadly I will be surprised to find detailed info, it isn't like this was considered a big deal around here. We do our next series on April 3rd. I would love to continue to the state caucus. Congratulations to you.

39. Wow
I thought this thread was gone forever! Yes, it was a bit over 10% I believe, Damned good and surprising for Kansas. The article in the paper today talked about the district that I was in. It was an even handed article and spoke of us as "feisty Kucinich Supporters." Indeed!

For Kansas, this late... I would say that's terrific! Reflects a lot of hard work!

42. Here you go, a link
http://www.cjonline.com/stories/031404/kan_kerry.shtml

The feisty part is down by the photo of Kerry and there is more later in the article. It was LOTS of fun. I did run into a family I am slightly aquainted with. They are Muslim and they LOVE Kucinich and heard him in Chicago. They told me the entire community of Muslims in Topeka wanted Kucinich but were voting for Kerry because they thought he was the only one that could win. I tried my level best to convince them to stay with us to make their statement but they sadly went to Kerry. Good people but VERY worried about this election. I was amazed at the depth of knowledge by the folks at the caucus. There were not many there but the people who were there know exactly what is going on. PNAC was mentioned a lot. This is Kansas, it was a good thing. Good luck to you in Colorado.

In the last few weeks I've noticed that there are a lot of DUers making their way through the convention process of delegates. I'm going to guess that a lot of us (like me) have never done this before. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement and engagement that helped all of us become more active.
