Anyone going to be in NYC on Saturday?
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 02:12 PM by WilliamPitt
I'll be there, and I hope to meet up with some DUers either at the rally or maybe for a beer afterwards. My roomate Fitz will also be there (for the ladies: He's 6'3", green eyes, quite a babe in my heterosexual opinion :) ), and the two of us will be around town in the evening.

So sound off. Who's going?

19. Think They'll Try To Split It Up Again
It was refreshingly annoying that they tried to undermine the protests last year. Less refreshing were the horses that nearly trampled me as they literally charged into the crowd.

20. I'll be here - Does anyone know what time this is starting?
Should we try to meet before? I was thinking we could meet in front of Whole Foods at 24th & 6th - about a block away. But I don't know what time to meet. I have a houseguest (family) so might not be able to stay long.

Please PM me if you're going to meet that night - I would love to meet you all.

Last year, two days after the Bush Administration launched its illegal attack on Iraq, more than 300,000 people marched down Broadway in Midtown Manhattan in protest. On March 20, 2004—the one-year anniversary of the Iraq War—we will march in New York City again, as part of a global day of action against war and occupation.

We have received a permit for a march and rally beginning at Madison Square Park, which is located at 23rd Street and Madison Avenue in midtown Manhattan. To receive updates on rally speakers, logistics, and other key matters, join our New York alerts list by clicking here

25. when was the falling out?
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 05:39 PM by goodhue
Because on February 6 they issued this statement of unity:

MARCH 20 NYC UNITY STATEMENT (2.6.04)
PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

On February 5, the U.S. antiwar movement took an important step forward when the March 20 National Coalition and the March 20 Mobilizing Committee agreed to hold a unified demonstration in New York City. As part of this agreement, more than 20 organizations present from both coalitions (including New York City Labor Against the War) unanimously decided that:

(1) By February 6, the two coalitions would issue the joint statement below.

(2) Organizations and coalitions will also have the right to produce their own materials for the demonstration.

(3) The two coalitions will share equally in decisions, permits, responsibilities and rally time.

(4) Participating organizations and coalitions pledge to express their points of view in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

These and other decisions will be formally summarized in a subsequent statement.

STATEMENT FROM FEBRUARY 5 MEETING BETWEEN MARCH 20 NATIONAL COALITION & MARCH 20 MOBILIZING COMMITTEE

On March 20th, the one year anniversary of the U.S. war against Iraq, a Global Day of Action will bring hundreds of thousands of people into the streets in cities around the world. In New York City the March 20th Mobilizing Committee and the March 20th National Coalition are organizing a unified demonstration opposing the criminal and empire-building policies of the Bush administration and their impact abroad and at home. We will march for an end to the occupation and corporate control of Iraq and to bring the troops home now. We will march for an end to the occupation of Palestine. We will march to fund human needs, restore cuts in social programs and against the ever-expanding attacks on all immigrants, labor rights and everyone's civil liberties - and we will stand united against racism here and abroad. We represent diverse communities and organizations opposed to the Bush Administration policies for many reasons, but on March 20th we will march together. By working together our two coalitions are confident we will mobilize a massive turnout on March 20th and send a trong, clear message.

26. Oh Geeze, If I still lived at " 54 West 10th Street" in the Village I'd
have all of you over for homemade Chili! (I make the best), but alas that's not my address and I have so many differences with some of you that you might scratch your heads wondering about the invite.

But, I had some great parties with folks I didn't always agree with, and I can't do that where I am in fundie country....

But...I think of you all there as ghosts enjoying my chili in my great apartment down the street from where there's a little plaque to Mark Twain and I would be there with you....even if I wasn't in the mainstream of where you all are. :-)'s and a :toast: to NYC......greatist place....
