Barack's realistic policy on Iraq.
Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 11:17 PM by thunder rising
We cannot withdraw on day one. We would be going from one rogue administration to another.

We can set aggressive benchmarks and withdraw when the local government has not been able to achieve something like stability.

Ever think that the Iraq government would also like the US go bankrupt? Do you think for an instance they are really "OK Arabs". You know just like Uncle Tom. They are as ideologically driven as anybody else in that region. Consider their question, "How do we get the US out of here?" The answer is simple, bankrupt them.

Let us not forget... THIS IS G W BUSH'S CREATION. And as usual it takes a Democrat to clean it up.

2. Not so easy, my friend......
I know you not, but your sentiment, I share.......

If we were to skedaddle out of there...however,

We'd share...in other troubles....

Just saying...that the quagmire is worse that any of us might think.....

I don't think...it is up to us...at this point...

To decide....to up and quit..

We....are stuck...in the middle!

3. How does staying in the free fire zone refereeing their civil war help anything?

4. We created the free fire zone. I wonder if it were declared a civil war we could get out
and keep our international obligation, but regardless, Bush is not going to do so, and Obama must convince the international community of one of two things:
1. It is a civil war.
or
2. The local government will not do what is necessary to achieve a self sufficient country.

5. It's not that easy, Colin Powell said "you
break it you own it." Have you ever seen the newsreels of the US pulling out of Vietnam under fire with people desperately hanging onto helicopters trying to escape? If there is a scene like that the Republicans will show us "cutting and running" for the next hundred years.

8. So you want us to just leave maybe under gunfire
and let the Iraqis that were on our side just get slaughtered like thousands did when we left Vietnam with our tail between our legs. We shouldn't have gotten into Iraq in the first place either but that can't be undone. Bush will leave whoever replaces him with the problem. All we can do is make the best of it. You just can't pick up and leave without a blood bath, it will take months get all our troops out safely.

9. How does our staying and killing thousands More do anything but inflame the issue?
They were not killing each other before we illegally invaded their country.
What makes you think they will be slaughtering each other after we leave?
Who tells you that this will happen? IS it the same fools who thought the world would lay down and take it up the a$$ for their imperial AmeriKKKa?

If you assertion is true (that they will kill a lot of people after we leave) then how does staying do anything but postpone the event?
