I don't. Who are these friggin people in the polls? This is a very left-wing website relative to the general population, it's just dumbfounding how Nader can have .5 percent much less about or more than 5 percent in most polls

In 2000 there were plenty of Nader signs - none now. (And we had plenty of Dean and Kucinich signs prior to Kerry winning it all)

I think the "Nader vote" is statistical noise or poll responders who just want to muck with the results.

I voted for him in 2000 (Oregon was strongly Gore and I wanted the party to push to the left). I don't know anyone who is considering voting for him this time.

Last time, there really was a strong arguement that the two parties were too similar, however this time that isn't the case.

here's the funny thing, tho. ok, not someone i know, know. but a guy delivering yard signs for the dem committeeman here in chicago. i was kinda quizing the guy, and he says he's voting for nadar. then goes on to rant about hillary. he is not from chi, he is from the (rethug) burbs. he was not going to come right out and admit that he was not a dem. but did say he couldn't wait to get back to his construction job.
so, i hate to say that it may be true that he will take votes from both sides.
i cannot imagine that he will get on ANY ballots, tho.

4. I know three, at least

Two are friends of mine from high school who are so far to the left that I don't think the Democratic Party could ever satisfy them. I'm going to try to convince them that the ABB cause will do the most good for the country, regardless of their feelings that there's not enough difference between Dems and Repubs.

The third is an ex-girlfriend of mine, who couldn't tell you what either major political party does believe, but still thinks they're both "the same." Well, since I hate her, I'll admit I'm not going to try very hard to sell ABB to her. I'm going to go out on a limb and venture that Illinois is safe without her.

Interestingly, they're all 20 years old.

...but these aren't people who would ever vote for anyone but a third party candidate. Some are Libertarians, some are Socialists. I even know republicans who will vote for Nader because Bush has no hope of ever winning the state of Maryland.

...to get a valid answer to that question. If 70 say they will vote for Nader, then you can possibly conclude that Nader might tip the balance in favor of Bush in those areas that you know people. I know maybe 50 people outside of my immediate family who would tell me straight up which candidate they would vote for in November. At this point none would vote for Nader in my area. But, Nader doesn't need the popular natioanl vote to make a difference, he only needs to upset certain swing states. Where could Nader make the difference by grabbing 5% or more of the vote? Isolate those states and then get out the vote for Kerry in those areas and Nader's impact can be minimized.:kick:

These are people who are very astute politically. They know what policies each candidate has, they know that we live in a corporatocracy and that the war in Iraq is illegal. They know that NAFTA needs to go, they know that the Patriot Act is evil. They know the media Manufacture's Consent.

My friend told me, if Kucinich is not the nominee he is voting for Nader or another third party. That is the sentiment of several people I know.

I will be voting for the Green candidate, if they field one. If not, then I will be voting for Nader, and Greens on the rest of the ticket. I also know several people at work and in my community who will be voting either Green or Nader, including some die hard conservatives. Why? Because we are all tired of the two party/same corporate master system of government. It is time to have the people represented in government again, not just big business.
