Chicago DUers...who else should I vote for?
I've been so wrapped up with work I haven't looked at much that I'm supposed to be voting for tommorrow. I'm already pretty decided for presidential and senatorial candidates...who else should I vote for? Where can I find out more in the next...oh...hour or so?

1. I'm going w/ my local party.
They sent a list of recommendations and since I haven't been paying attention......

The big one is the Senate race and I'm going with Obama.

5. For Senate-OBAMA
The rest of the ballot is local stuff or judges that are trying to fill vacancies and we must not forget the Water Reclamation District. Vote for 3. why?

6. boy, lemme know
seriously, i was about to start looking for the judicial recommendations. last couple of elections somebody compiled all the different bar groups lists together. now i cannot find it.
but i usually go by the women's bar, the cook county bar, and the chicago bar in that order.

10. No, the damned machine that makes sure no hanging chads
spits it back for undervotes. I voted in a candidate in November of 2002 and it took 10 minutes for the damned machine to accept my ballot, no matter how much I protested the undervote was deliberate.

12. They kept threatening to make me revote.
I said if I did I would not vote for the judges again (was running late to work). finally, someone pushed a button correctly and the damned machine accepted the ballot. To this day, I wonder if it was because my write-in was for governor and obviously not the official Democratic candidate. Had they made me revote, I would have reported it as voter fraud.

13. i was planning to refuse to use the machine
what do you think they will do? it pissses me off that they cannot put the damned thing in a booth. just another excuse for the precinct captain to peek at your ballot. last election i did the same- they didn't give me a hard time, tho. just said, you sure, yeah, i'm sure.

14. I don't think you can refuse, but am not certain.
Perhaps you should have requested an absentee ballot. That gets around the thing. Crappy weather tonight, isn't it?

17. Love my fireplace.
Burn some Irish turf along with the logs when I have one. Not tonight, though, a work night and soon to bed.

16. Thank you everyone...
...especially mopinko for linking to the guides. I feel kind of silly hanging out on a political website and not knowing much about an actual election going on tommorow; I guess it's just I'm so angry about Bush* I keep focusing on getting him out and not paying attention to the rest of this!

21. he might need it
he'll be outspent at least 2:1 becuase the likely Republican nominee will be multi-millionaire Jack Ryan. I know I'm donating some of my meager college funds to Obama
