Drudge--Kerry cleared, never said foreign leaders, said more leaders
I guess Powell can kiss Kerry's ass,

KERRY: "I've been hearing it, I'll tell ya. The news, the coverage in other countries, the news in other places. I've met more leaders who can't go out and say it all publicly, but boy they look at you and say, you gotta win this, you gotta beat this guy, we need a new policy, things like that. So there is enormous energy out there. Tell them, whereever they can find an American abroad, they can contribute," a reference to donations, prompting laughter from the crowd.

2. hum... wonder why Kerry failed to mention this ?
and went so far as to point out he was disinterested in creating a breech of trust with them ?

Sounds like some money changed hands to me.

4. This seems...
...like such a complete non-issue. Seriously. BFD. They're playing it up because they don't have any bullets for their gun and they know it. It's a waste of time. I don't intend to help them keep the 'fire' stoked.

8. Yep
And for Colin Powell to demand to know the names of the foreign leaders, if any . . . .

Cripes. He's a diplomat and he knows darn well that it would ruin their careers - not to mention the status of their countries vis a vis the US.

What a silly demand.

10. he's demanding it as he knows its untrue
no leader would make such a comment irrespective of what they believed.

13. Because they were impromptu remarks
And campaigns don't record and transcribe all (or even most) of their own events. They have a hard enough time keeping track of what the opposition said!

Kerry assumed that he said "foreign leaders," and tried to deflect it as best he could. And I'm sure that what he said was true, even if it wouldn't have been very politic to actually vocalize it, by the way; if the world could vote in the U.S. elections, it would probably vote somewhere around 80-85% Dem...MacLean's Magazine in Canada took a poll earlier this year about who Canadians want to see as Prez, and "random Dem" beat * 85%-15%

14. Why bother?
More leaders, foreign leaders, the intent of the remark is the same. Once it's in the media, it's in the media. Nothing he could have said would have changed anybody's mind anyway. And why would you jump to the conclusion money changed hands? Sounds like you're rooting for Bush to win.

They are trying to slow Kerry down, set the pace, make Kerry respond to their shit...it's going to get more ugly than you can ever imagined, truly...fascist won't leave easily...they will pull out every gun, dirty trick, slime, smear, lie and not worry about it, even later after they already have control..THEN IT'S TOO LATE, FAR TOO LATE...long haul.

And fuck Drudge...you think he plays fair...playing both sides of the fence, than slamming it to the democrats when they are down...don't trust that fucker!!!!

We've got to put on our gear and fight these fascist...see you this Saturday March 20th, just be there (you'll happy you went)...I'm sure as hell not going yachting.

6. As matter of strict sematics ...
... this changes neither the meaning of what Kerry was thought to have said, the substance of the challenge by the Bushies nor the validity of of Kerry's rejoinder.

Nice opportunity to drop the subject, though. It's a loser for Kerry.

9. But it shows the media and RW whores to be liars once again.
Shows how they will perpetuate a lie or misrepresentation as though it were fact...won't check, won't apologize, and won't back off. Kerry is just letting them get enough rope to hang themselves.

15. better tell kerry that's what he said. kerry seems to disagree with
the reporters attempt to "help" him-

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer Tue, Mar 16, 2004

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) is not backing down from his claim that some foreign leaders privately support him against President Bush (news - web sites), dismissing suggestions by the White House that he is lying if he is not willing to identify the leaders. <snip>

He continued: "I stand by my statement. The point is not the leaders. What's important is that this administration's foreign policy is not making us as safe as we can be in the world.
