The president's right to delay an election in times of national disaster
where is this printed? Is it part of the Patriot Act, or what? I know we've discussed this many times, but I want to find the text and print it up and give it to Senator Feingold tomorrow when I go to his listening session.

1. I believe the constitution says
the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. If Bush delays/suspends the election he will have entirely suspended the constitution.

Just as I fully expected Nixon to suspend the constitution and declare martial law in 1974, I fully expect Bush to do something similar if he is hopelessly behind in the polls in November. These people stole an election for president of the United States in 2000. By definition, they are capable of literally anything.

2. They would have to suspend the constitution
To suspend the election.

Are they that audacious?

So far, yes. But perhaps they have spent their allocation of crap for this term.

6. If Bush Declared Martial Law...
The markets would tank....

The foreigners who are financing our debt would call their Treasury Notes because America would no longer be a "safe haven"..

Commerce as we know would no longer exist...

Even Bush isn't that stupid and his monied friends would never let him do it....

4. Elections were held in 1864 and 1944...
so I can see no reason not to hold one in 2004.   That's not to say the crazy bastard wouldn't try it though.

5. replying to myself
how lame is that?

Anyway, in my google search, I'm finding that I'm not the only one asking this question. Look at this link from 3 years ago!

http://www.davidicke.net/newsroom/america/usa/011001a.html

This was further brought out in a video dealing with the Iran/Contra war when Congressman Henry Gonzalez made it very clear that a President could suspend the Constitution, serve beyond his term limit, and even have American citizens arrested and detained under the auspices of terrorism as an example and deny them their rights under Constitutional Law. It is a fact that under FEMA a President may declare a national emergency and thereby, in effect, make himself the de facto Monarch.

Congress and the Supreme Court would be sent home and all power placed in the hands of the President. Just imagine that much power in the hands of one man… BILL CLINTON!

Once FEMA is invoked, it cannot be suspended for a period of less than one year. This was put in so that presidents would not be able to use this act as a way to handle lesser or minor problems. In the hands of Bill Clinton this could be incredibly dangerous.

Ohmigod, do I sound as nutty as he does???
