Nader attracting more GOP support in NH than Democratic support
The new American Research Group Poll showing Nader with 8% of the vote in New Hampshire has an interesting result when broken down:
Nader is getting more than twice as many Republican support as he is getting support from self-described Democrats.

Among Republicans Nader is getting 9% support (slightly above his statewide average). Among Democrats Nader gets 4% support (half his statewide average). Among undeclared voters he does best drawing 10% support.

Among Undeclared voters in a Bush vs. Kerry race it is closely divided 43-43--among undeclared voters in a three way race Bush leads Kerry by 10-points 43-33--Bush loses no support among Independents while Kerry loses 10-points to Nader.

1. That still doesn't mean it's a good thing Nader's running.
If he weren't running perhaps some of those Republicans would vote for Kerry instead. That would help us even more. God I hope he doesn't get on the ballot.

2. no that is true
but we are so obsessed by him when the actual nominee of the Green Party will be on ballot in most states and will have a good organization and federal money to run with--Nader will be lucky to be on ballot in 30 states, imo.

5. Everytime someone mentions Nader
and his polling I go over to the ballot access site to see how hard it is to get on the ballot. I don't have to go there anymore because Nader himself has this info on his website ( and much more organized, I might add)
New Hampshire doesn't look too bad. He has to get 3000 sigs...but his goal is 2000 per congressional district to make sure when some are stricken that there will still be enough.

I've written this before, and some people get pissed, but Dems should challenge every signature to make sure that they are really signatures of Independents. I'd suggest the same thing if it were the Republican party because Republicans are the ones I am trying to beat. I'm trying to beat the Nader party too.

6. The Sigs
have to be registered independents?

7. Okay here is the deal

In most states when an independent enters, the signatures can only be those who did not vote in the Democratic or the Republican primary. SO all those New Hampshire independents who voted in our primary are ineligible. One caveat, I'm not sure New Hampshire has this rule, but most states do. It takes a lot more researching than I have time to do to find out.

Edit: I went and did some more research. It looks like Nadar's ebsite has updated since the last time I was there. In New Hampshire, it is 3000 sigs.....no other requirement, except $1,000 fee.

8. thanks Nancy
Makes sense. If he registers people at his internet site I bet it wouldn't be too hard for him to get 3000 signatures. Also wondering if he saved contact info from 2000. Here's hopin he doesn't make it.

9. I think he probably has to do it in person
not on the internet. The reason I say this is he is asking for volunteers to head the petition drive.

Some states make it really hard, like Texas and Oklahoma.....not that he would care, I suppose.

4. It may be about jobs
& outsourcing, WTO, etc.

Many Repubs are upset about these issues too, & they see Nader as a protest candidate.

11. I can't decide whether this poll is more revealing
about Nader, or about Republicans.
