On edit, see posts below, the Governor may have a medical condition, rather than exhibiting excessive agreement. It was very disconcerting to watch.

Clinton doesn't have a lot of good arguments left. She's making a vigorous case, as she's supposed to do. It may be ineffectual, but it's hardly going to hurt Obama. Do you think Mohammed Ali's supporters got this snarky and petty against his sparring partners before a big fight? No, they kept they eyes on the ball.

Please ignore the mixed metaphor.

Because if so, that's not good. Anger helped her in that New Hampshire debate because she was perceived as being picked on byt the two people sitting next to her. But if she is just standing there in front of a microphone yelling, that is not good.

81. No, I haven't seen it
which is why I'm reserving judgment. After hearing about how Hillary had supposedly broken down before the cameras (when she'd done nothing of the kind) and how Hillary "lost it" during a debate (when she'd merely become about as heated as Edwards and Obama) I tend to be skeptical. In fact, over the years I've learned that threads here introduced with the words "OMG!" tend to be a tad hyperbolic. And yes, I'm especially suspicious about hearing women candidates described as "losing it" or "having a breakdown," etc., etc. All too often it turns out to a relatively mild display of emotion that would have aroused no comment at all coming from a male candidate.

sounding, holding up the flyers, saying, "Shame on you, Barack Obama!" Then she said she'll see him in Ohio to debate this. It has nothing to do with her gender.

Yes, she's angry.

She's not unravelling.

She's angry, but in control and quite articulate.

29. Wow - I didn't see it but it sounds like GHWB in 1992
who in the last week of the campaign really could not believe that someone he saw so below him as Clinton was beating him. It was at this point that he called them "Bozo and Oxoneman". The Clinton camaign then hardly responded - they didn't have to.

As to Democrats not attacking other, the Clintons attacked Tsongus, Kerrey and Brown - in fair and unfair ways way back in 1992. Not to mention, that in 2006, HRC stabbed John Kerry in the back. It would have been fair had she attacked him saying he was gaffe prone (although he really isn't if you consider the number of gaffes between 2003 to 2008), but she said "his comments" were "inappropriate". Skipping a word of prepared text is NOT inappropriate - she was validating the RW smear that a man, who has fought for veterans and genuinely cares for them, dissed the military. It was as if he wrote that some people "loathe" the military .... but that was Bill.

Do we really want a president who can't keep his or her cool? Do we want one that goes off like that? We know McCain has a temper. We've heard plenty about Bush being very hot-headed and vindictive.

Do we really want a Democrat who does the same thing? I don't.

40. Oh its another hateful Obamanable thread what a surprise.
Obamanable is just another corporatist . The banks already have him in their pocket. And you fools who suport him are going to continue to pay for his deceit. You will see. Actually if he pulls off this fraud and is elected to the Presidency I suspect about 18 months in Hillary is going to be relieved she didn't win because things are going to be such a mess and you can count on Obamanable to make it worse not better ,well worse for the real working folks and then Michele will have something else to hate America for ....Putting her husband in a job he wasn't qualified for!

After hearing all that crap about how she'd "broken down" a few weeks back (and watching the actual footage of her simply becoming slightly choked up) or about how she'd gotten "incoherent with rage" during a debate (and watching footage of her simply becoming slightly heated) I'm afraid I'll have to see it for myself before passing judgement.

As seen by our society and our media:

-an angry black woman is crazy
-and an angry black man is scary

Haven't seen CNN yet (I'm sure they'll play this at least as much as "The Dean Scream") but for now, I'm taking this with a grain of salt.

146. You know, I agree - she wasn't "falling apart" or "unhinged"
But she was very, very angry, and doing the same thing to Obama that she was angry about him supposedly doing. She's far too angry about what she's talking about, especially given some of the tactics her campaign has employed. And, she comes off as lecturing, not only Obama, but anyone who supports him.

Angry and somewhat arrogant, I would say - they ARE having a "real" campaign. She's not winning. The anger is misplaced, and she appears desperate to me. I can't imagine Obama losing his cool like that over his opponent's campaign, and he's had many reasons to.

168. She is insulting him and his campaign.
And, his supporters, I would say. She was the one who went negative several times, she is angry about a flier of his, when she has a flier that is much worse, if you're talking about negative politics, which she is. I don't think Obama needs any lectures about his campaign, particularly from someone who has not exactly run a positive campaign against him.

This has you quite riled up, I noticed, and you keep saying "I'm an Obama supporter". I don't believe that for a minute. I watched the video with an open mind, and it was clearly over-the-top anger. I would guess that Clinton is tired, stressed, and frustrated, and all of that showed, along with the misdirected anger. She really should save that for Mark Penn.

NAFTA: Us, Hillary and the "Boon"

The Democratic campaign has moved in earnest to Ohio, where times are tough and NAFTA has become a dirty word. In an effort to score points, Barack Obama has been dropping a mail-piece (left) that repeats a charge he has made several other times during the campaign -- that "Hillary Clinton believed NAFTA was 'a boon' to the economy."

This attack has attracted a flurry of attention, from Clinton's campaign and some reporters. As it turns out, the primary source is us. Back in Sept. 2006, an abbreviated chart printed on Newsday's Spin Cycle page compared Hillary with her Democratic US Senate primary challenger Jonathan Tasini on a variety of issues. The issues chart included this:

"FREE TRADE
JONATHAN TASINI: Tasini favors scrapping the Bill Clinton-backed North American Free Trade Agreement, saying it drives down domestic wages.
HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON: Clinton thinks NAFTA has been a boon to the economy, but voted against the Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement, saying it would drive jobs offshore."

Because it's raised questions -- with Clinton criticizing Obama for making "false claims" in the mail piece -- we've looked into the chart. In it, we did not have the Clinton campaign using the word "boon" in describing NAFTA. The word was our characterization of how we best understood her position on NAFTA, based on a review of past stories and her public statements.

Tasini called for scrapping NAFTA in 2006. She did not.

We do not have a direct quote indicating her campaign told us she thought it was good for the economy at that time. Also, for that matter, Clinton's campaign did not contact us to question the item after it appeared in print.

Obama's use of the citation in this way does strike us as misleading. The quote marks make it look as if Hillary said "boon," not us. It's an example of the kind of slim reeds campaigns use to try to win an office.

That said, we should have been clearer.

mean old men card again. Funny, she doesn't seemed to be bothered by all the false flyers she sends out about Obama.

145. Her campaign looks schizophrenic
..as well as desperate and at this point, pathetic.

Harsh words, but fair is fair, and she wants to go nuclear as some last ditch desperate ploy, then I'm going to call it like I see it.

Note I didn't say Hillary was any of these things - I said her campaign was. There's a difference.

158. I just watched it, finally
It's a bit unnerving because I don't know which Hillary Clinton to expect when I watch her performances--the make-nice Clinton with the soft voice who wants "to have a conversation" or the Goddess of War.
