GE/NBC whores for Bush in Dateline tonight to counter Clarke on 60 minutes
Seems the tone starts off as Clinton was afraid of collateral damage, and Clinton administration officials deny they ever had a chance to get him (said in a "questioning" tone).

Then Bush says we are going to get him, and we see the Predator film of "tall fellow" - with nothing else to identify - taken by Predator while Clinton was President followed by comment we did not follow up.

No mention that the Predator involved cashed shortly thereafter. No note that we did not have armed predators - and that Clinton ordered the CIA to modify the Predator to carry arms. No comment on whether we had exact co-ordinates to fire a cruise missile from the crashed predator data - and given the crash, we would not have good intel post crash to fire the cruise missile.

A short note that Bush is now flying unarmed predators in Afghanistan.

And no comment on the reports that in last 30 days it was only a take down of force in Iraq that allowed an uptick in the hunt in Afghanistan - proving that Iraq screwed up the chase for real terrorists.

So Jack Welsh of "call the election for Bush damn it" fame has his GE/NBC media whores again doing the job.

We have missing information, a tone of voice and sequencing of script and effective talk over/view over of any Clinton information stated, and super Clinton hater, super Bush ass kisser Lisa Myers as the Stone Phillips "anchor"'s source - with tape of dear Lisa - of this crap.

And folks wonder why NBC/Russert/Phillips/Myers have no credibility?

1. Is Lesley Stahl really a journalist??? She believes Bush is
doing a good job! She believes the world is better and safer without Sadam!!! I guess 60 minutes doesn't do investigative journalism anymore,

2. I think she knows how to appear...
As if she supports Bush so as not to draw the wrath of his believers while airing the dirtiest of Shrub's underwear. She's the Good Cop.

3. one wonders - but at least they have Clarke - and ABC has Clarke
tomorrow on Good Morning America.

Only NBC chose to do the defense of Bush/dump on Clinton piece

and of course with Lisa on her knees giving W a BJ, GE's exec's are happy.

As to world being better with out Saddam, I doubt that anyone can say that Iraq is not a better place without Saddam, or that our $90 billion foreign aid gift to Iraq - over and above the occupation cost in blood and money - has not bought Iraq $90 billion more of economic happiness - while we shut down government services to the poor and vets, and trim National Park tours/maintenance, and cut state aid so state taxes go up.

Indeed I'm sure folks in Spain feel the folks in Iraq are better off - I just doubt that the folks in Spain feel that they are better off or "safer".

Investigative journalism is only permitted when the right wing owners of the media want to air such stories - and this does not seem to be such a time.

7. Iraq may someday be a better place without Saddam but
the world as a whole--I don't think so. The world has become more angry, more violent, more terror ridden as a result of the Bush junta's loony crusade. The U.S.A. has become a hated bully in the eyes of most people around the globe. And we are supporting dictators in places like Pakistan and Uzbekistan, so the whole mantra of Saddam was a bad guy and had to go was complete hypocritical BS.

5. I think she hammered Clarke for a reason: Is he credible?
And the answer is yes. Only Faux News does the softballs. She had a responsibility to be tough on Clarke. His credibility was only enhanced by responding to tough questions - something our protected and pampered "leader" tried on Meet the Press a month ago, and came off looking like the chimp he is. Clarke was tested in this interview. That was necessary. He and his accusations only emerge stronger from such tough questioning. I would have it no other way.

6. She Had To...
...otherwise all those unasked questions would have been out there being used to discredit him and her.

8. I agree - the NBC kiss to Bush put them down in the Fox mud - CBS was
solid

reminded one of the golden - pre Reagan second term - years - of watching the media.

9. At no time did Stahl issue support of Bush
Edited on Sun Mar-21-04 09:37 PM by Nicholas_J
She rather coyly mimicked the public image of Bush after 9/11, at the World trade Center and such, questioning Clarke with "Dont you think that Bush did a Good job after 9/11"? At no time did she indicate that she thought Bush did a good job, nad she also nailed the Bush stooge a good one when he said that no one could verify that Clarke had ever had that converation with Bush in which Clarke Reported that Bush tried to get him to find and Iraq connection and Stahl campe back that CBS and She had independent confirmation that the meeting between Bush and Clark did take place and the conversation was accurately reported by Clarke and that one there they have interviewd a witness to the conversation who was present.

And the Bush stooge started stammerin and started to change the subject.

Stahl did a perfect job as a journalist. Didnt give her own opinions and set up Clarke for his answer about Bush by the framing of her question.

4. Any bets on how high the FCC fine will be for CBS tomorrow?
Any bets that the fine will come out this week? Or do you think they will wait a week so they won't look like it is payback for the interview.
