Publishers are piling on the Chimp-in-Chief!
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 05:23 PM by blondeatlast
I thought you might be interested in what the publishers have waiting in the wings. I've edited out SOME RW drivel, homework helpers, and reprints, for the most part.

The critiques are beating the praise by about a 2-1 margin, and I wouldn't be surprised if pub dates on many of these are moved up.

Since DU is honoring the Amazon strikers, try Powell's:

9. I'm hoping we get an advance copy at the bookstore (not bloody likely)
If not, I'll snag one of the shelf the first day it's on sale (we get to borrow the hardbacks free!!) :D

12. I remember that--leave the cover, borrow the book!
Loved it...

We never get interesting nonfiction in advance copies.

7. It'a available now
I just ordered it. Blew my book budget (I ordered a few others, too) but when I saw it was available, I couldn't resist! Of course, I took the "free shipping" option, so I won't see it for a couple of weeks, probably. Still, it's on the way! They must have released it early, because the publication date says April, but Powells had a "buy" icon instead of the "preorder" icon they had all day yesterday on Clarke's book. They also noted it as "in stock" on my confirmation, so...

3. Publishers undoubtedly want Bush re-elected
... for the same reason that impressionists and political cartoonists wanted Nixon to have a second term. I can't imagine that a Kerry presidency would nurture such a cottage industry in exposes and diatribes.

Then again, maybe any Bush-hungry publishers should ask themselves whether after another four years of Bushco they'd even be allowed to print a book critical of his administration...

6. This is GREAT! At least one book a month from now until Sept!!!
I don't recognizre most of the authors, but I think it's great that there will be at least one (mostly more than that) book(s) each month all the way up to the election.

Gee, maybe someone can throw one together for October????

10. Some will be moved up, especially if Bush continues to trail.
The RW stuff will rot on the shelves if the C-I-C loses. There are several "homework helper" types that may never see the light of the press at all.

11. I didn't want to mention this
Since Freeper's don't frequent bookstores but simply get there monthly coloring book selections from the Wingnut Book Club I did not want to note my surprise at seeing the "Bush section" front and center of the Borders and Books Store. Of course that is our region and may not pertain in deep Red territory. ALL of the books are anti-Bush, ridiculing Bush. If there is a pro-Bush book in the forest it is impossible to see at a glance(it could be another parody after all!). It is impossible for a Bush supporter to reach through the psychic pain to find relief.

We once did a bookstore search as we always do for newspapers, to see how the deck is stacked.

Ours is against leaning 100%. And it's good for book sales too evidently.
