Polls show Clinton strategies not working: USA/TX/NC/OH

Pollster.com

Pollster.com which combines polls and therefore has the largest possible polling sources is showing in state after state that changes in the last few weeks in Clinton campaign strategy are not working. Obama has passed Clinton in the USA poll, the Texas poll, North Carolina Poll and has narrowed significantly in the Ohio poll

BREAKING NEWS PRESS RELEASE FROM CLINTON CAMPAIGN

Rhode Island Officially known as State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is the state that is most equipped to decide who should be our next president for the following reasons:

-Rhode Island was the first of the thirteen original American colonies to declare independence from British rule

-Rhode Island is one of the most reliably Democratic states during presidential elections, regularly giving the Democratic nominees one of their best showings. In 1980, Rhode Island was one of only 6 states to vote against Ronald Reagan

-In the 1984 Reagan landslide, Rhode Island provided Walter Mondale with his 3rd best performance

- Rhode Island was the Democrats' best state in 1988 and 2000 and 2nd best in 1996 and 2004

-Rhode Island gave John Kerry a greater than 20 percentage point margin of victory (the third highest of any state) with 59.4% of its vote

-All but three of Rhode Island's 39 cities and towns voted for the Democratic candidate

-The Fox show Family Guy takes place in a fictional town in Rhode Island named Quahog

-The nautical nature of Rhode Island's geography pervades its culture. Newport Harbor, in particular, holds many pleasure boats

-A now defunct professional football team, the Providence Steam Roller won the 1928 NFL title

-Fort Adams, on Narragansett Bay, was the setting for the finish of Eco-Challenge 1995.

If Sen. Obama is not able to win in this one of the most Deomocratic States of the Union which is famous for its cultural, athletic, ecological leadership then he should do the party and the country a favor and quit the race

68. After tonight, you can put those polls in the circular files...
Hillary crushed Obama's weak defense mechanisms tonight..He barely kept his head above water trying to defend the wrongful attacks he's been leveling at Senator Clinton with the distorted Health Care Literature sent to Ohioians and Texans regarding her Health Care Plan and NAFTA! She nailed him on both issues leaving Obama wounded and wanting. She was great tonight.

73. She was desperate and pathetic.
I can't say with certainty that Hillary won't somehow weasel her way into the Democratic nomination via some backdoor, undemocratic process (much like GWB "won" his spot in the White House) -- but there's no denying she made a fool of herself time and again during last night's debate. Her whining about being asked the first question was bad, but the funniest moment had to have been when Obama lobbed her "denounce/reject" silliness right back at her.

Even as someone who would support her if she won the nomination, I dont see it happening ....

There has been no strategy that has worked, and many that have been tried have HURT her image ...

Frank Rich's opinion piece, 'The Audacity of Hopelessness', nailed it completely : If Hillary cannot run her campaign with any competence, then how can anyone accept her argument that she is most able to lead a nation ?

The mean assed shit from their side has been their downfall .... no one likes that shit ...

Except, of course, the candidate-partisans in DU .... They love that stuff ....

20. A RI superdelegate supporting Hillary is upset
The afternoon saw a rally at Rhode Island College in Providence. The senator was joined on stage by supporters from Rhode Island's political landscape... but noticably absent was mayor David Cicilline, who has long stood by her.

The rally for was free of picketing by the Providence firefighters, with stalled contract talks. Mayor David Cicilline was asked just days ago by the Clinton campaign to stay home and keep the heat off. Cicilline, a superdelegate, agreed not to appear, but was upset.

Providence Mayor Cicilline Endorses Clinton
Cicilline Will Serve As Rhode Island Campaign Co-Chair
The Clinton Campaign today announced the endorsement of Providence Mayor David Cicilline and named him a Co-Chair of Hillary's Rhode Island campaign.

"Hillary Clinton understands the challenges facing our cities, and she has the experience and vision needed to lead this country from her first day in office," Cicilline said.

Cicilline has made a name for himself as reform-minded mayor intent on modernizing city government and improving neighborhood schools. Under his leadership, Providence's crime rate has dropped to its lowest level in 30 years due to an innovative community policing program, and fiscal integrity has been restored as evidenced by straight-A bond ratings.

Prior to his election as Mayor, Cicilline served four terms as a state representative, championing ethics reform and gun safety. His dedication to transparency and accountability in government earned him Common Cause's #1 ranking.

"Mayor Cicilline is an exciting young leader who has turned Providence around and restored faith in city government again," Clinton said. "I'm honored to have his support as we take our message of change across Rhode Island."

19. My God, If One Ever Needed Proof Of A Gravy Train Effect, That Top Graph Says It All.
That sharp incline is so telling. It shows so clearly how though Obama is good, his recent success is far beyond what he's earned himself, and more a product of this weird cultural phenomenon type thing. Because no matter how much someone likes or respects Obama, you can't look at that graph and tell me he's done anything to THAT level of amazing in the past few weeks. He just hasn't. And since you can see how steady Hillary has been, you can't claim that she's just failed or tanked either. In fact, her graph stability even in the face of his skyrocketing numbers, is quite a tribute to her ability to hang in there. Politics, sometimes, just simply cannot be readily explained.

24. The odd thing about this is if remember Poli Sci 101
They explain that low positives doesn't mean anything but if a candidate has high negatives there really is very little that can be done.

The reason is that when people answer that they favor someone it could mean anthing from "yeah ok" to "my favorite candidate ever" but it is human instinct not to express a negative opinion about someone unless it is a highly determined and fixed opinion, something like "that candidate is a complete fraud".

When Hillary started this race she favorites/negatives in the 40s. In a field of large candidates 45% is great. Once it became basically a 2 person race (for all practical purposes after Feb 5th) she was doomed. All of the political science experts knew this.

39. "His recent success is far beyond what he's earned himself"
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 01:53 AM by Occam Bandage
Keep telling yourself that. He's nothing special. There's nothing there. He doesn't deserve it. It can't last. He's not that good.

It don't change a thing. We saw this coming a mile off. We knew this would happen. We knew the Democratic party wanted an alternative to Clinton and cynicism. Most voters have a viability threshold; they won't support a candidate--no matter how much they like them--if they don't think they can win. Obama is perhaps the most talented natural politician in a generation. However, due to his youth, he naturally had a high viability threshold.

As he won each contest, his visibility and viability increased; as his viability increased, so did his support, and so he won, and so his viability increased. Politics is a positive feedback loop. And Obama, it seems, has hit escape velocity.

I don't know how high his ceiling is, but he's beating the best political machine of the last two decades and he still hasn't hit his peak.

That's Obama's rise. As for Clinton's fall? That's obvious. She went negative. She started out with 45% unfavorables. She only had to convince 6% of the electorate to dislike her in order to secure a loss. We warned you that her attacks were going to destroy her, even as you beat your chest and cheered her "brilliance."

41. HRC campaign for President has simply failed to develop a compelling
message on why she should be President. If you did not immediately buy into the inevitability argument there was never a compelling hook for anybody to join that was not already a fan. Her experience arguement was destroyed by her inability to make a clear statement about the IWR vote, admitting the mistake and moving on.

If she repeat she had not been so interested in packaging a product for consumption but rather fired her pollsters and consultants and just put herself out there she would have been the candidate. It happened for a moment in NH and the people responded. The great irony of this campaign season is, that Sen. McCain's prescription of just leaving all of the packagers behind and doing town meetings would have made her a rock star. Can you imagine the media she would have generated by travelling by herself and just talking to people.

So now she has been hanging on after one landslide after another. Please do not take any one instance and make a morality statement out of that. Sen. Clinton has been defeated. She has no hope of winning the nomination without some nuclear event. So now the Obama campaign and everyone else in the party are going to jump on every little mosquito burp to get this done by Mar 4th.

Sen. Clinton, President Clinton and all of the other paid consultants are guilty of campaign malpractice. Rather than settling out of court we have to wait for another jury. Just like any other civil action don't be surprised if the jury on Mar 4th brings in damages that will have a devestating effect on the Clintons. They could have settled some time ago for pennuies.

After Wisconsin this stopped being about Obama winning it is now simply about packing up the circus with as little damage as possible. The ball is in Clinton's court.

That is essentially what she did when she first ran for Senator from NY, and she ended up winning over a lot of people who had initially bought into the MSM narrative about her.

You're right that Obama's numbers immediately took a turn for the better when the rest dropped out (Especially Edwards). However, knowing politics, the fact that he has withstood slime attacks and pretty much everything thrown at him to CONTINUE climbing long after the exit of Edwards is in itself something amazing. It's not anything he's "done", just that he has stayed on message and run a nearly flawless and error-free campaign. The one exception might be Michelle Obama's unfortunate statement - however even in that instance, he showed his ability to easily recover from something that the Kerry campaign, for example, might have misplayed or ignored to their detriment.

48. Any moron....
.... would know that HRC going negative was a huge, HUGE GIGANTIC mistake, it plays right into the hands of what people really think about her.

Her vaunted brilliant political instincts are just smoke and mirrors like her support the war with votes - talk it down with rhetoric history.

When I saw that ridiculous "shame on you" bullshit Sunday morning, I broke into a huge grin. It's OVER Hillary, it's over.

63. Apparently..
.... we are too late. HRC is going double or nothing and the polls are already saying "nothing", Obama has taken the lead in TX.

62. Obama is now within the margin of error for OH
Polls, Feb 23-25

Rasmussen: Clinton 48, Obama 43, MOE 3%
SurveyUSA: Clinton 50, Obama 44, MOE 3.6%
Public Policy: Clinton 50, Obama 46, MOE 4%
ARG: Clinton 49, Obama 39, MOE 4%

All four combined: Clinton 49.25, Obama 43, MOE 3.65%

(If MOE went to Obama, would be Clinton 45.6, Obama 46.65)

---

Please, no three stooges pics.

70. Lots of Obama08 signs and stickers here.
Only other signs/stickers I have seen up and down the highways is Ron Paul. I know of only 2 Hillary supporters. I think Obama will do great in NC too.
