Poll question: Rank the 2004 Presidential candidates.
If the Presidential election were held using Instant Runoff Voting, how would you rank the candidates for President (from first to third)?

1. If it were IRV...

Nader, Kerry, Bush.

The vote would essentially count for Kerry, but it would also provide a slight boost to a more left-wing ideology.

3. That's what I was trying to determine with the poll, actually.
I wanted to see how many would support Nader if they knew their support wouldn't potentially hurt Kerry's chances of beating Bush.

IRV has its flaws, but one of its definite advantages is the fact that a voter does not necessarily have to compromise his/her vote. One can vote for a favorite candidate and still cast a vote for the one with the best chance of winning. I think it would have worked to Gore's advantage in 2000.

2. Democracy would be better served by runoff voting.
Too bad we have become entrenched in this blatantly undemocratic electoral system.

4. First choice.

Although, if Nader became president, he would be a horrendous president. I can't concieve of how bad he would be.

14. Should have been 'Other' - 'Kerry, _______, ________'
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 12:07 AM by Feanorcurufinwe
But I didn't see 'Other' so I mistakenly voted 'Kerry, Nader, Bush'

However, 'Kerry, _______, ________' is definitely my choice. Since Kerry is the only one of the three that I want to be President, I'd want to make sure there was no chance of my vote helping some other candidate.
