Data from the past two days makes it clear that the recent news cycle is taking a toll on the President's numbers. Today's figures represent a net decline of seven points for the President in the past three days.

In addition to the increasing support for Senator Kerry, Rasmussen Reports has also found that the President's job approval ratings have fallen to their lowest level of the year.

On a state-by-state basis, Rasmussen Reports data shows Bush leading in Missouri, Kerry leading in Iowa, and a toss-up in Minnesota.

Other recent Rasmussen Reports state polling shows Kerry leading Bush by 4 points in both Michigan and Ohio while the candidates are essentially tied in Pennsylvania. In Florida, it's Kerry 48% Bush 45%.

1. Crhis Matthews must be disappointed.
On yesterday's show, he quoted and AP poll that had Bush ahead and said that Bush's ads must be making a difference. Poor Chris.

2. Tweety still fondly remember how "manly" Dubya looked in his flight suit!
Faux machismo really scores with shallow types like Tweety.

3. Show me state by state
polls. Polls like this don't tell the story. Especially of people in places like Kansas are voting in them

5. Other polls will start following
I guess that perople are starting to have less trust in his ability to deal with terrorism with the 9/11 comission revelations. Not just Clarke, but the fact that Bush's people seem to be completely avoiding discussing pre-9/11 and post 9/11 and are almost totally focusing on the day.

Also while Clinton didnt do a great deal other than initiate air strikes, the Bush people did nothing at all once it was discovered that AL-Qaeda was rsponsible for the Cole (which wasnt finallly determined for certain until two months after Bush was inaugurated)

and for the most part, all the Bush people did was have meetings, and did not increase security operations at the lower levels of the CIA and FBI at all, but simply sat aroun d talking while AL Qaeda was doing. At least the CLinton people set up active programs inwhich people were gathering intelligence and following up on it to the degree that congress would allow.

It looks like a large number of the undecided are favoring the CLinton Administration and Clarke side of these issues rather than the Bush people. THe fact that Condi hasnt and wont testify adds to this.

6. It is what
they were sitting around talking about that interests me.(pre 9-11).
Could it have been how they wee gonna be able to hang the highjackings around Husseins neck and then get they're war on, make a ton of money for they're buds, gain control of congress, and set themselves up as emperor of America ad infintum til Jesus rides down on a cloud to settle it all.

Inquiring minds would like to know. He Hee

7. It's too early to get enthusiastic about this.
The poll number change is not because of anything Kerry has said or done, it's the downward drag from the recent hearings and Clarkes revelations of the bush adminstration. This all happened to early and will have little residual effect. If Kerry doesn't start getting out a clear message and stop fumbling, this time next year we will probably be in another war in some forsaken, camel-jockey Country.
