I was part of an amazing Kerry MeetUp tonight where the message of unity was the foremost feature.
There were the usual Kerry fans. Some of us had been doing grassroots work since last June.
The key message for that was that we were not going to wait for the Cavalry, namely the official Kerry staff to arrive before we made any decisions or spread the word about Kerry.
There were a good number of Clarkies who came to join in.
Some Edwards people showed up to join in.
Some Kucinich fans were there enthusiastically wanting to join in.
A wonderful group of Dean supporters showed up as well.
We were all in on the battlefield in the primaries and had seen each other at different events from opposing tables and corners.
Those times are now memories. If you add up the passion all had with their candidates, you know that democracy has a strong heart. A very strong heart.
Now we face a common enemy.
We need to register as many people as we can to vote and get out the vote. Those that don't know Kerry's issues need to do some homework. Add in their ideas.
Join and fight. This is truly a war.
Celebrate on Election Eve while we watch Chimpy cry in his concession speech.
That's the goal.
We'll see who hangs out later and stays the course and shows up at events and GOTV efforts.
But, all in all, I was highly impressed with the people who had backed other candidates GETTING IT and joining in for the fight.
