Went to my first Kerry meetup tonight.
I got there early and helped the organizers set up. Talked about the new www.coloradoforkerry.com website. Virtual caucusing online. We had 152 people show up. One of them was the democratic candidate who is running against Tom Tancredo. After it was over, I went and had a couple of beers with the organizers of the meetup. It was a good time. It is good to see so much optomism and I am hoping beyond hope that we beat George Bush and the Republican party.

3. Nice stuff!
Were there any others who backed other candidates who now are getting involved in the Kerry campaign?

I attended one where nearly half supported other candidates and now are getting into Kerry.

5. One of the guys running it...
...used to be running the Clark campaign. There were a lot of people from other candidates there.

4. I went to my first Kerry Meetup too
Lots of Dean, Clark, Edwards folks there. I was sitting next to someone who had started as a Lieberman supporter. Fortunately the animosities between candidates' supporters oft displayed on this board are not necessarily reproduced in real life.

I can't compare the turnout to previous Kerry events since this was my first, but I got the impression that it was much larger than what they'd had before tonight.

The organizers, wonky graduate students, seemed a little subdued and hesitant. A few Clark and Dean people showed them how to properly excite a crowd. (Hint: do not start off by conceding Bush will carry your state. No one gets excited over joining a lost cause.)

An email list is being put together and there is a local website http://www.austin4kerry.org/
