Pennsylvania
Is anyone else worried about us winning the "key stone state" in November up until some of these polls started coming out i was fairly certain that Kerry would win by 4-6% there now I'm not so sure... can we win with out it, i reckon we can but then its going to be really really tough IMHO... but what do you guys reckon?

2. Gov. Rendell is not doing any favors
by raising the state income tax rate. I feel this will be a close one. * has been here, oh, 24 times or so - so he has already zeroed in on us...

If shrubby dumps Cheney and picks Ridge as his running mate - this I fear could put us into the red column...

3. He won't ditch dick....
... Rendell is a great guy, probably along with Richardson, Owens Granholm and the Governator one of the best Govs in the country (sorry but both Schwarzenegger and Owens are good Govs from what i have seen as are Granholm and Richardson)... raising taxes is not the thing to be doing this election year IMHO... but i still reckon we will win the state it is just i did not expect to be worrying about it as i am now...

4. Ridge has made a rotten impression on the rest of the country.
He comes across as a trivial do-nothing.

5. I also didn't expect Penn to be so close either.

The GOP knows that the state is virtually key to a Kerry win, and they will try their best to take it from us.

The middle of Pennsylvania is also a nerve center for religious fanatics, and the Constitution Party headquarters is in Lancaster.

7. Stop now
7 months before the 2000 election in PA Bush was winning. Gore wound up winning by 200 thousand. The race is over in PA. Worry about Florida or Ohio, nothing to look at here.

6. For get about it
Kerry wins by 250 thousand. Take it to the bank. Gore won by 200 thousand. None of those Gore voters are voting Bush.

8. i worked for gore in PA in 2000
it wasn't as easy as one may think. early exit polls were showing a deadlocked race and the dems unleashed hundreds of volunteers who worked the phones and pounded the streets of philly and pittsburgh that afternoon. the central and northern counties of PA (referred to as the "T" )are very conservative. remember, PA elected and then reelected rick santorum.

there's no reason to be lax about PA.

10. I have no faith in polls this early...
unless they are so one sided as to be believable.

The media, especially the conservative media, will keep the polls as close as possible. the reason is simple...even Diebold can't blast a 15 point disparity.

I believe PA will go Dem.
