University of Connecticut CT Poll: Kerry 52, Bush 33, Nader 4

Kerry is up 3 points in the last month. I'm afraid the President isn't looking too good in his home state.

University of Connecticut UConn Poll. March 25-28, 2004. N=511 registered voters statewide. MoE ± 4.2:

"If the 2004 presidential election were being held today, for whom would you vote: Republican George W. Bush, Democrat John Kerry, or independent Ralph Nader?" Names rotated

1. Yay, UConn!
'Cause I grew up in CT and went to school there... Really, CT doesn't see Bush as 'theirs'. He's from Texas, remember? ;) I'm not surprised at the way that poll went, at all. Yay!

2. We're predominantly Dem
In spite of our Republican Governor (Rowland), Connecticut is predominantly Democratic. We have two Dems in the Senate (although I hardly consider Lieberman a Dem) and have had Democratic governors in the past.

Rowland should be out of there soon on felony charges. Hopefully, Attorney General Blumenthal will be elected next time. Rowland was elected three times because the Dems put up weak candidates -- Curry twice, for example. Curry is popular with a small segment of the population, but has zilch in the charisma department.

I live in Fairfield County, which is very Republican -- WASP territory. But the rest of the state is Dem, accounting for the poll numbers.

3. Blumenthal is great

Fairfield County isn't really Connecticut - its its own planet as far as the rest of the state is concerned. CT is pretty heavily Democratic, and it certainly has some great Democratic politicians, but the Democratic Party is still largely disorganized. Why the hell are Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson in Congress? Chris Shays I understand, but those two? I miss Sam Gejdenson.
