Wait a minute - Isn't Kevin Costner right-leaning?
I remember something about Kevin Costner being a right-leaning, or at least moderate conservative, actor. Am I wrong?

http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/enhancedstory.jsp?maxstories=5&maxphotos=4&phototerm=John+Kerry&storyterm=John+Kerry&floc=FF-APO-1131&idq=/ff/story/0001%2F20040331%2F0906187007.htm&sc=1131

Apparently, Costner is giving his nod to Kerry, according to CNN Netscape.

2. LOL
"Larry David joked that Kerry should consider him to be vice president because he considers himself ``a nincompoop, a chicken and a liar'' who could offset President Bush and balance the ticket. David said the only problem is that if something were to happen to Kerry, those qualities ``would obviously be disastrous for anyone who was actually the president.''

``You are qualified,'' Kerry responded, ``to be a Republican.'' "

3. he supported Gore in 2000, maybe he just hates bush
i don't know where the kevin costner being republican and especially right wing came from because i remember i got that response from DEMOCRATS when i said costner was also a gore supporter when discussing celebs for bush or gore.

if he was a republican or still is then it might just be him hating bush which i can understand.

Didn't Jane Alexander throw that together with less than no money and actors taking scale?

On edit: ahhh... i see... Costner is a RINO... Republican in name only... votes Dem.

7. He's a Republican (or at least used to be), however . . .
I seem to recall reading somewhere that he had investments in certain companies that were involved in alternative energy or other environmental technologies. I think that's the main reason he was supporting Gore in 2000. Since the current administration's energy policy isn't actually, ahem, forward-looking, I would make sense for him to support Kerry.

8. He was a Republican, but now he's a registered Independent...
With a clear preference for Democratic candidates.

Kevin Costner is frequently cited as a celebrity Republican, although he no longer is. He did socialize and golf with President Bush, and in 1992 the Bush re-election campaign leaked word that he would appear in a commercial for the President. Costner, then a registered Republican, had no intention of aiding Bush, according to a close associate of Costner. He was a Clinton supporter. "We had to tell the Bush campaign to stop saying he was going to do ads," the associate says. Before the 1996 election, Costner switched his registration to Independent. He gave $5,000 to the Democratic Party and attended the Democratic convention. Still, he continues to receive invitations to GOP fundraisers, and in February the New York Times referred to him as a Republican. "He's not a particularly political guy," says the associate.
