Poll question: Is Hillary a DINO?
Hillary said today:

And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold,”...“I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy,” she said.

5. What's with this woman pimping McCain?
If, heaven forbid, she's the candidate, he'll play her words right back at her. And, of course, she's already trashed Obama for the general.

Hillary screwed the pooch on these caucuses (and on the whole campaign, really). That's not the fault of the way Texas picks its delegates.

8. I voted no because
she's really quite progressive on some issues, especially those dealing with women and children. But, she is (what I will euphemistically call) unprogressive on things like national defense and foreign policy. I'd call her Janus-faced and leave it at that.

15. HRC and McCain gangin up on the people's candidate.
They want to run against each other and the "behind the curtain" corporate powers and conflict hungry media are pushing it. Obama is more the risk to corporate power and influence. I'm so disgusted with HRC for taking the low road, spinning lies, and going to the Rove playbook. She can't technically win the nomination, so why is she going negative? Obama can't lose the delegate count, even with florida and michigan counted. SO why is HRC beating up on our nominee with LIES, and sleazy Rovian SPIN? IT appears she's made a choice, if she can't be the nominee, she would rather have McCain (her friend) than Obama in the White House. She's finally found her voice... and it's more right than left. more corporate than progressive. more hawk than dove. more lobbyist than citizen. This is War. Bama is going to have to learn to box, cause McCain will make the same arguments.

Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 06:37 PM by BREMPRO
but it won't happen because, there is NO WAY the delegates will be seated based on the primaries, especially in MI where Obama wasn't on the ballot (played by the rules) if the states redo, he'll likely lose some ground but not enough to pull her over the top.

17. Both Clintons are
Bill's record of supporting and passing GOP legislation as President is well known.

One of Hillary's first acts as Senator was to co-sponsor a bill (that failed) to protect banking interests from people filing bankruptcy by making ch7 bankruptcy nearly impossible to qualify for, which would have hurt millions of lower income people that were subject to preditory lending practices.

But overall, Hillary has very good Dem support. No doubt it's those latte liberals that would consider Hillary a DINO -- does that make one NOT a Democrat? That's debatable I suppose.

42. There's occasionally a similar kind of snarly question in the
Religion forum. "So and so isn't a Xian."

It comes down to what a "Xian" is. Is there some sort of document that defines what it is, one that doesn't need great skills to parse and apply? Is there a consensus definition? Or does it boil down to "Whoever says they're a Xian is a Xian." The "no true Scotsman" fallacy must be mentioned at this point, and the argument continues.

There's a Democratic Party platform. Find the average dem; I'd permit calling those more than two standard deviations from the norm "DINOs". Seems simple enough. HRC's a dem. BHO's a dem. (I also go with "Whoever says they're a Xian is a Xian," which, to my mind, makes the term pretty pointless, but there you have it.)

Some people like to form groups to reinforce their egos or self-worth. They obligatorily want to exclude others. Hence the problem with who's a Xian--it's seldom done to praise somebody without, at a minimum, dissing at least one other person, although it's often done simply to insult somebody.

Nobody can be both a uniter in the Obamaesque sense, I think, and be a party purifier.
