Do your local and state Democratic Party officers contribute?
To State and/or Federal candidates? If they don't it should be brought to their attention that they might be part of the reason that candidates have a difficult time with fundraising.

1. My local Democratic committee
not only won't contribute, they told a group of concerned citizens that they didn't plan on any form of support for Kerry 'because he's against guns and can't win here, so why bother?' These bozos have only supported one Democratic candidate, and that was Clinton! They refuse to launch a program of calling on likely voters, driving people to the polls, or even having poll watchers. I'm amazed that they call themselves Democrats. No wonder the Rethugs are in power here.

5. ???
What state do you live in?

Where I am, virtually the only qualification required to sit on the Democratic Committee is that you HAVE to contribute money.

6. Arkansas
And I'm not sure how in the world they did it. They came to a meeting of concerned citizens, and we were all disgusted with them.

7. What are the bylaws of the local Democratic Party?
Find out and see if there isn't a way to mobilize your group of concerned citizens to get them out.

9. Indiana
I didn't find anything about any of our central committee officers for the county or state making contributions. I intend to do a bit more research to verify it.

2. the National does nothing for our locals
the state does however.they left a good anti war ,union person to run a word of mouth campaign against our local puke, Bono. I will contribute only directly to the campaigns of individauls. seems to work better that way, except for more mailings.

4. Well, I happen to be a Local Party officer in part because ...

The money to contribute isn't the easiest thing to come by. I have given money to candidates from school board to President but not enough to make any real difference. I have in just the last month attended a fund raiser, four party meetings, attended two forums by Representatives, and a congressional district party convention, and ran a National Convention delegate caucus. And by the way, next week I have a steering committee meeting for a US Senator and I am making sign templates for a DA race in my county.

How about you?

10. Plenty
I have automatic monthly deduction to the county party.
I have automatic deduction to a labor PAC at work.
I have contributed to congressional races in the new 3rd and 4th district, the old 4th.
I have contributed to Kerry's presidential and Russ Feingold's senate in Wisconsin.

I do the layout for our 3rd Congressional District Information Directory at a cost of a dinner. The directory is anywhere from 56 to 64 pages. It saves the party $30 to $40 for each page. ($1680 - $2560 or over the last 8 years $13440 - $20480)

I have a website that I continously update with national and local data. I have been compiling everything especially from the local newspapers about our current idiot congressman since 1993. The intent to make it easier and less time consuming for any potential candidate to do their opposition research. I have been posting links to newspaper articles that pertain to our republican dominated city and especially county councils. Another reason(s) for doing this?? Because people don't have time to do the research themselves to find out what their elected officials are doing for/against them and to help them remember what they have done in the past.

That is just a few things that I do.
