Clark & Kerry supporters shown tasting Dean's elixir (KA) on CSPAN
they were broadcasting a NH town hall from earlier this afternoon and when they panned the audiences I saw people with Clark & Kerry buttons/stickers clapping wildly.

7. Sorry, I'm just so used to the implication on DU that
I'm not a "real Democrat" unless my primary support is for Dean. Every morning I try to wake up and repent but it doesn't "take."

Off to bed... tomorrow will be a Brand New Day!

8. That's a pretty strange idea...
We're all Democrats, we just have different candidates.

11. I think the implication is not that supporters aren't real democrats...
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 02:08 AM by TLM

But that Clark is not a real democrat.

10. Yep, and this Clarkie
Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 02:11 AM by LandOLincoln
was cheering the Doc on from home.

So here's the deal: I am ABB all the way. I want my country back, I like all of 'em and I hope these guys & one gal can bag their $#@% egos and pull together for EVERYBODY's sake.

In fact, I'll go so far as to say I'm fine with the Doc as the nominee and the winner in the general--as long as Wes is his SecState.

Further, we need JFK and JE actually fighting for us (for once) in the Senate and DK doing the same in the House.

I want the pitbull Doc here at home giving the Neocon traitors six kinds of hell every day of every week of every year, while Wes with his four languages and his elegance and his erudition and his charm--as well as his immense prestige and popularity abroad--mends the fences and cements the alliances the Moran & Posse have squandered so profligately and so f**king stupidly.

Oh yeah--SecDef? John McCain.

Edited because...well, just because.

12. I'm with you up to the SecDef...
...but that's ok, we're a big tent and allowed differences of opinion. I do know what you mean though, and applaud your statement...

13. Thankee. I would be more than happy with Kerry as SecDef
except we need him in the Senate.

Stumped for Veep, though.

Thoughts?

17. Choice of Veep is usually a strategic one...
...dependant on the candidate, the progression of the primary race (what was the ideaology or the bent of that candidates strongest opposition, for instance), and the 'current events' surrounding the convention (following the Clinton impeachment fiasco, for example). Of course there is conventional wisdom on how and who exactly the veep is chosen for, but it seems much conventional wisdom has flown out a high-rise window...

For example, following a primary battle in which Bush won because, as EVERY ONE OF HIS OPPONENTS STATED, he just had the "bigger war chest" and they "couldn't compete with his war chest" (i found that astonishing, seriously, go read some of the news surrounding the concessions in the 2000 Republican primaries), he set up a committee, chaired by Cheney and no doubt populated by contributors (daddy's money men), that went through a list of potential veeps...and choose...Cheney...it just boggles the mind...

I guess my thought is that I tend to agree that, either due to the controversial 2000 election, or September 11th, convential wisdom and normal models don't really apply.

People accuse politicians of only thinking in terms of their stays in office, from one election to the re-election to the next, and so forth (thus their "waffling" over the course of years, where for the rest of the public, it's called "changing ones mind" or "growing bitter"), but we are I believe dealing with some people who are thinking in much longer terms; we need to be innovative in combatting them, because they are NOT on our side.

So no, I got no answer for you on Veep. I would be dissappointed if it were "standard issue" though, I must confess. I fully expect to be surprised.

18. No one can really reach people and get them to make the connections
between the crap Bush has done and what's hurting them personally. Each candidates have their individual strengths and weaknesses, but this one thing is a real winner. Dean is so great at framing things in a way that people "get". You can't help but want to vote Bush out when you hear him talking. I didn't get to watch him on CSpan until the third playing, and he is so great in these towh hall meetings. If he goes to the typically Republican states and does these, he's going to win them over for Democrats.

14. I'm a Dean supporter...........
and I've cheered Clark, Kerry, Kucinich, Sharpton, CMB, Gep, Edwards........everybody but Lieberman. They're all fine candidates and any one of them would stand head and shoulders above the Chimp.
Do people find it that strange that a Democrat isn't a wholly owned subsidiary of one candidate?
Around here lately the discourse has fallen into a pissing contest about who can belittle the other's choice of candidate the most. I'm hoping that this will end once a candidate is chosen, but I'm beginning to doubt it. There are some out of control egos about and some won't be able to see past the ends of their own noses if their candidate isn't chosen. It's sad, counterproductive and in the end will lead to 4 more years of Chimpy McCokespoon if people don't wake up.
I'll fully support ANY Dem. candidate with my heart and soul, they all need our support (except Lieberman, oh OK, I'd even support Holy Joe). Let's all start pulling in the same direction.

15. Amen to that.
Call me a plugged up ole bag--call me Ishmael if it'll make ya happy--but this ongoing & everlasting display of dirty laundry is (ahem) MOST unseemly and smacks 'way too much of aiding and abetting the enemy.

& does anyone here dispute the fact that they ARE the enemy? Anyone??

Edited on Fri Dec-19-03 02:47 AM by gore-is-my-president
Many undecided people wore 2,3,4 buttons from different candidates. Big deal.... It happens. Dean's a great speaker - I cheered him myself when he spoke. Sorry - was I supposed to boo him?

19. The Kool-Aid elixir that is? yet another "unifying" post from you
Oh, I forgot, you only ask our assistance when *D is under attack.
I "tasted the elixir" myself last summer at a NYC rally. I went and registered, determined to be impressed. And I was. Right up to the minute the candidate came. I lived under a dictatorship once (an established one) and was fed demagoguery 3 times a day. So, I went home and joined Draft Clark. Thanks for once again confirming that I did the right thing. It's arrogance like this that will get you plenty of converts.
