Hillaryworld, then and now.
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 10:21 AM by Occam Bandage
Then: Bush's fearmongering tactics are reprehensible.

Now: Only Hillary can save your sleeping children at 3AM! Boo!

Then: Rove's do-anything-to-win strategy is vile.

Now: The "Kitchen Sink" strategy proves Hillary Clinton is a fighter!

Then: Hillary Clinton is more electable because she is a woman (like 51% of the nation) and because blacks are not electable in America.

Now: Hillary Clinton has to fight the unfair handicap of being a woman, and Obama has an unfair advantage because of his skin color.

Then: Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who can effectively fight the media battle against the Republicans.

Now: Hillary Clinton is losing because of an insurmountable media bias against her.

Then: Republicans supporting Obama are proof that he's a GOP trojan horse and we should avoid him for that.

Now: Republicans are bragging about gaming the system for Clinton? Whatever.

Then: It's not fair to attack Clinton for her convicted-felon fundraisers, friends and legal partners. Doing that is straight out of the right-wing playbook.

Now: Obama needs to answer questions about Rezko and Rev. Wright.

Then: Keith Olbermann isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Thank God he's out there saying what he thinks no matter what.

Now: Keith Olbermann is totally unprofessional. It's offensive the way he doesn't hide how he feels about Clinton's tactics.

54. Enlightening: Race Profiteers
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 12:21 AM by ACanadianLiberal
The following piece is posted by Canaan on another site:

http://lesstalkmoreactivism.blogspot.com/2008/03/race-profiteers.html

"And I'm offended when black elites play the race card for their own personal gain because it legitimizes the very concept of 'playing the race card.' So when blacks have legitimate grievances (and we have plenty), those grievances are often met with 'you're playing the race card.' I know 'playing the race card' triggers a backlash, and that backlash then provides cover for brazen expressions of real racism. The 'cry wolf' metaphor is absolutely dead-on".

58. Obame, then and now
Then, Obama was used to occasionally "drop in" the events Mr. Rezko held.

Now, when pressed to explain his relationship with Mr. Rezko, he referred him only as "that individual", only billed 5 hour work for him. That's all for 17 years friendship.

56. Obama then, and now
then, June, 2007, Sen. Obama co-sponsored a bill called "Vote by Mail Act of 2007" (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.979:):

12) Vote by Mail allows voters to educate themselves because they receive ballots well before election day, which provides them with ample time to research issues, study ballots, and deliberate in a way that is not possible at a polling place.
(13) Vote by Mail is accurate--at least 2 studies comparing voting technologies show that absentee voting methods, including Vote by Mail systems, result in a more accurate vote count.
(14) Vote by Mail results in more up-to-date voter rolls, since election officials use forwarding information from the post office to update voter registration.
(15) Vote by Mail allows voters to visually verify that their votes were cast correctly and produces a paper trail for recounts.

Now, Mar. 12, 2008, Sen. Obama is expressing hesitation to endorse a bote by mail system suggested for both MI and FL:

Obama...said in an interview with CNN that he had reservations about a vote by mail. "I think there's some concerns in terms of making sure that whatever we do is fair, and that votes are properly counted and the logistics make sense," he said.

Thank you, Sen. Obama.

77. Vote by mail in Florida
Our law says the secretary of State( the ones who officiate election) are not allowed to use its staff for a private election by mail because that would mean having to share voter signatures(private info) with whoever is running the do over. that is the hurdle faced in Florida. No one wants to pay for a primary or caucus. The re-pubs have the whole legislature (majority) and a Republican Gov. This is just a republican tactic to split the Dem party and its working. THE RE-PUBS HAVE SUCCEEDED IN SPLITTING THE DEM'S IN FL A VERY PIVOTAL STATE. WE ARE JUST FALLING FOR IT ALL OVER AGAIN. I am a big-time Obama supporter. I really want this contest to finish soon. Even if it isn't my candidate. The Supreme Court appointments are too valuable to let slide into the republican hands. 50/50 or 40/60 the FL and MI delegates I really don't care just stop fighting over whether Obama or Clinton broke their pledge. this election is not about FL Or MI, it is about getting the whitehouse and picking up more legislative branch seats we will not do it with out some give and take.

78. As someone who lives in the only state with VBM, I think Obama is
exactly correct and consistent with his position. VBM is a wonderful idea, but it has to be handled carefully, not just thrown together and rolled out for expediency. Here is a history of how Oregon slowly and carefully handled setting up our VBM system:

Great for him.

Where did his judgement go when he decided to co-sponsor the mail-in vote bill?

Does that sound like you support something but do not really want to go for it?

One thing's got to be very sure here: as a president, you don't have this kind of luxury.

96. Sounds to me like he supports a great idea, but isn't stupid or reactionary
enough to just agree to put it in place without ensuring that all the safeguards for doing so are in place.

And as a president, I certainly hope that whomever is chosen won't be stupid or reactionary.

85. I don't think so. Try again.
Co-sponsoring the "Vote by Mail Act of 2007" and questioning the legitimacy or fairness of a re-vote by mail in FL and/or MI are very different.

If the bill passed, it would be legal and there would be checks in place to ensure all votes were legitimate and counted (and voters were educated how it worked, what to do, etc.).

Being against the vote by mail 're-vote' is different, I'm fairly certain that FL (or any state for that matter) would not be able to get their shit together enough to have a re-vote by mail that would be legitimate.

94. Who told you there would not have any checks in place in the
proposed mail-in solution. How could you take such a big leap to the conclusion "FL (or any state for that matter) would not be able to get their s"**"t together enough to have a re-vote by mail that would be legitimate"?

If this holds water, then are you suggesting that we the democratic give up FL this election?

95. It took Oregon years to get it right.
I don't know if any state would have the resources to get it right inside of a couple of months.

By no means am I implying that anyone give up FL in this election, I am saying that there isn't enough time.
