Acting Presidential, Obama reached out to Clinton today to discuss the tone of the race.
Clinton and Obama spoke on the Senate floor today.

An Obama aide said Obama had initiated the conversation, and that they's spoken about the tone of the race.

The aide said they'd agreed that their supporters had gotten out of hand, and that things needed to be tamped down a bit, but said it had been a harmonious, not accusatory, chat.

Clinton aides didn't immediately respond to questions about the converstion.

1. Obama is a statesman and a gentleman.
Sometimes I want him to hit her in the face with a shovel, but then realize he's exactly what we need in this country. Peace.

73. Playing the race card" is making race the topic of the day - random "supporter" quotes are
searched for and if they can be twisted into "sensistive" words, the PR blast goes out to the media claiming the other side is playing the race card.

Over and Over again David and team do this - first to take the discussion away from Hillary's NH win - then to raise the race loyalty voting result to above 90%.

and it's the strongest and the fittest that will be the nominee. That will be Hillary.

28. Good listeners and caring people often put their arms around
others without even thinking about it. My husband does that. He put his arms around Howard Dean
in Gettysburg and when I asked him about that later, he didn't even realize nor recall that he had
done so. (And my husband is 6'7", it was quite a sight!)
Just a natural warmth.

35. I'll retract my previous post.
"A strange psychological phenomenon, wherein various teenagers and irascibly immature gangs of message board congregators demean and castigate a candidate with such childishness and irrational vindictiveness, that it drives otherwise ambivalent, rational people to take a hard look at the contender and warm up to her."

That's the best I could come up with, and that's damn true and reasonable. It's actually my thoughts EXACTLY, except by some quirk of fate I felt that way about Hillary supporters and not Obama supporters.

Personally, I'm willing to admit that preferring either of these candidates is a flip of a damn coin. I guess our coins just landed on opposite sides.

DeFazio letter: Superdelegate warns Clinton, Obama to stop negative barbs

Superdelegate warns Clinton, Obama to stop negative barbs

At least one uncommitted superdelegate is tired of Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama going negative on the campaign trail.

In a stern letter to both Obama and Clinton, Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.), warned that in recent weeks "the long term goal of beating the Republican nominee took a back seat to the short term goal of proving one's viability by tearing down the other Democratic candidate."

“We lost sight of the general election, we lost sight of the true opponent,” he said, “and if we continue to be shortsighted, I fear we will lose in November."

DeFazio didn't exactly say that he'll endorse the first candidate who makes nice in the Democratic presidential race, but believes the two Democratic senators should focus on their Republican rival, Arizona Sen. John McCain, rather than each other.

"In the end, it is the candidate who can take the fight to McCain and win that deserves my support and, most importantly, the support of the Democratic Party," DeFazio said....

He made some pointed statements criticizing McCain on his changing stances for the sake of the election.
It's high time to aim some ammo at the Republican nominee. It will also be establishing himself as the Democratic nominee, which he will be.
