3. He talked about "radical Islam" as a threat
I would have preferred that he just said terrorists, but it was certainly not a dig at all Muslims.

9. It IS a threat
So is radical religion in general but he's got to distance himself from one (really lame) Right Wing smear at a time.

10. Pretty sure he said "radical Islam"
and I would hope most Muslims would feel the same way about radical Islam.

11. the only hint of that I saw was this:
"Did I strongly disagree with many of his (Wright's) political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed."

but no mention of an Islamic spiritual leader in that list. Is that a diss? I don't know. It's an omission.

13. Sorry, this is what I was referring to:
"But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren't simply controversial. They weren't simply a religious leader's effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country - a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam."

It implies that we have no "radical" allies and that there is no side of the Israeli issue that is "radical." I cringed immediately when I heard him say this. But I guess I am overly sensitive to the ME issue. I guess we only have "stalwart" allies and no radical allies.

17. I doubt it if he is hanging around pastor Wright. The conflict goes both
ways. It's not all radical islam and Israel is part to blame.

a politics of hope, hope that we can believe in, we the people we have been waiting for?

He's just lying?

I am so disillusioned.

20. I just don't think he thinks the Palestine/Israel problem is caused by radical
Islamics. Radicalism is what happens when injustices are not remedied.
