Is it possible that Maura Harty is the one who leaked this incident?
Could THAT be how she is related to all this, instead of being associated in a nefarious way? This is total speculation, but what if it turns out SHE was the whistleblower? The timing of this story would make sense, considering her recent departure.

If so, all our piling on could end up making us look very foolish.

1. The only thing I know... is that this could wind up being bigger than Pastorgate.

14. STFU!
How dare you laugh at the possibility of destroying this Pastor's life some more, all in the name of political gain. That's why you support a candidate who voted for war for the same fucking reason! You are slime, and nothing more.

3. well, if she is a whistleblower I hope she keeps safe. But that'd mean she DID alert her superiors

and the story as I understand now, she didn't.

4. At this point anything is possible, But, there was the assumption that it should have been
"kicked up the food chain" earlier.

There would be no reason for her to leak it instead of telling her superiors (unless the cover up was at a higher level).

15. That's what I was kind of thinking, that it was at a higher level.
But then someone pointed out above that she should have told the IG. Is that position an independent one or a political one? If political, then we definitely can't trust that it wasn't reported to the person in that position.

5. Her recent departure has nothing to do with any of it.
She announced in November she planned to retire in February.

9. I meant that the story is coming out now.
And like I said, I'm just speculating and wanted to know if others thought this was a possibility.

6. I doubt it--sounds like she was either an incompetent (see the 9/11-terrorist story)
or was protecting somebody.

11. Yeah, I know. I posted on that thread with a link to the passport backlog
fiasco with which she was involved. Hmmm. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

I ain't. She's done nothing yet, as far as I know.

And that wasn't a snarky aside...btw.

10. No, I think she is too ingrained with the past administrations and
she is involved in a coverup....

But, considering the connections to the Clintons and Bushes and knowing the dealings they do together in the backroom...well....

I think the direction we need to look is the embedded chips they are putting in passports but now I am getting into tinfoil country. Just remember, though, you heard it here first.

I know, drink more Kool-aid...

16. I agree. That's why I want a full investigation.
People shouldn't be jumping off on her so fast even though that was my initial instinct, but after thinking this through, I decided not to join in that.

I mean how do we KNOW that she didn't? The "State Department" says so, but we really don't know yet. Duh.
