Pro Dean editorial says attacks on Dean are a sign of desperation
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 01:46 AM by MIMStigator
The bad news for Dean is the Pro Dean editorial is in the right wing Washington Times. Why are they defending Dean????

<snip>

"As Howard Dean consolidates his lead in primary states, his rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination are dropping their gloves. In all-out efforts to make up ground lost to the former Vermont governor, his fellow Democrats are now trying to convince the Democratic rank and file that Mr. Dean is unelectable — and that if elected he would be a disaster as president. This kind of demolition job is a sign of desperation"

4. This is standard
If an attack rings true, or the Dean campaign doesn't want to answer the specific issue raised, they always say, "it's desperation".

Now, why a right wing paper would do the same thing to defend Dean, well that raises other questions. The standard response from Dean supporters is it is all a conspiracy using reverse psychology.

I often wonder if the utter absurdity of this answer is really believed.

21. It's pretty funny
It's hilarious to hear someone accusing others of "conspiracy theories" after declaring that since the WashTimes wrote an editorial about a candidate, the big bad Republicans must want him to be the nominee to win against.

5. The right wing media, especially the tabloids, want to portray
the Dem party as being in complete disarray, as being fractured and fried.

Sadly, some Dems believe their lies already.

16. Yes
But holding steady over the last six days or so. And in that time, Clark has gained a point and Kerry has slipped an additional 3 or so. Still waiting to see any continuing trend develop beyond Kerry's downward motion. Of course, this all is within the MOE.

18. Wes is going for it in NH
I like that he's skipping Iowa, which is going to turn into an anti-Dean bash-fest anyway. He'll stay above the fray and work NH about as well as it can be worked. I'm confident we'll see the results in the final numbers; I see a strong #2 finish, well above where we are now, as the electability issue becomes paramount (too early to throw real numbers around).

20. Well, we'll see what happens.
A second place finish in NH will quickly end the Kerry campaign. If Dean wins Iowa and NH, as I think he will, it then becomes a Clark v. Dean race to the end. I'm looking forward to a vigorous debate on the issues between the two, although I think the "electability issue" isn't anything more than posturing. In any case, may the best candidate win!

25. Skipping Iowa was Clark's fatal mistake
Trust me on this. When NH and SC'ers see that he skipped Iowa because he started late, they won't take Clark too seriously. And Clark's already pissed off more Northeasterners than you might think.

There is good stuff re Dean is in the right-wing media, there is bad stuff re Dean is in the right-wing media; there is bad stuff in the NYT, LAT and WP re Dean, there is good stuff in the WP, LAT and NYT re Dean, etc., etc., ad nauseum

9. Oh, come on. Read what News Max says.
They are not being nice. They quote Carville's cutesy saying on Crossfire that Dean acts like he had a political lobotomy.

Do a search at Google News, all you get the right wing sites being ugly.

Let's not play their game.

BTW a hearty thanks to Mr. Carville for his support of our candidates.

22. Carville's part of the dynamic to disenfranchise Democrats
If the Carville folks can push out, alienate or disspirit enough Dems, they keep their power even if the party goes down to flaming defeat with a "Southern strategy."

Novakula called Dean supporters crazies.

Maybe we can get some DCTimes people and Novakula in a Full Contact Arena and they can duel to the death on pay per view.
