The Clinton myth: Important Clinton adviser gives Hillary 10% chance of winning
<snip>As it happens, many people inside Clinton’s campaign live right here on Earth. One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives.

In other words: The notion of the Democratic contest being a dramatic cliffhanger is a game of make-believe.<snip>

2. They have known this for over a month. They WANT Obama hurt at this point

to undermine November. This is consistent with their undermining of Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004 - and they plan to put any blame for failure completely on Obama the same way they did to Gore and Kerry, all the while they were undermining from within.

IT'S NOT GOING TO WORK THIS TIME - TOO MANY OF US KNOW NOW and WON'T let it happen - not again.

The backstabbing won't go over again, TeamClinton.

The defending of Bush for 3 solid weeks will not be treated mildly THIS time.

9. Agreed. They won't blatantly undermine Obama in the GE
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 01:37 PM by PerfectSage
2008 was Hillary's best chance, but she will undermine Obama to set up for a 2012 run.

Look on the bright side. The Clinton's 16 year control over fundraising for the dems is weakening or ending.
No more Clinton star power. McCain's gonna take public financing so Obama's will have a money edge.

5. A game of make-believe being perpetuated by the media
Now that Michigan and Florida look unlikely...what pray-tell does she have? What serious shot does she have? What will winning PA do for her in the long run? Not a damn thing...

6. Thank you sage
from the article

But even some of Clinton’s own advisers now concede that she cannot win unless Obama is hit by a political meteor. Something that merely undermines him won't be enough. It would have to be some development that essentially disqualifies him.

So they are looking for a meteor

7. I think you mean "2016"
The Intervention team is being assembled and it is only a matter of time before somebody (who...Bill Clinton?) looks her in the eyes and quietly tells her that it is time to make her last speech of the campaign.

10. It's THAT assessment that triggered the "scorched earth" strategy.
Such a strategy is rarely if ever adopted during an advance ... only on retreat.

12. Now there's a credible story with a lot of weight.
"One important Clinton adviser estimated to Politico privately that she has no more than a 10 percent chance of winning her race against Barack Obama, an appraisal that was echoed by other operatives."

Right. What BS.

15. When my team still has a 10% chance of winning, I want them to fight on!
For that matter, I want them to fight on even after it's impossible to win -- until the gun sounds and the game is officially over.

That isn't stubborness. It's character.

and not tearing down our likely nominee, I would have far less of a problem with it. Nobody on the other side was screaming about Huckabee because he campaigned with respect to his party and opponent.

But considering the strategy is to make him look "unelectable" just before he (barring a miracle) enters the GE as our candidate is not 'character.' Its selfishness and ego and its setting things up for President McCain (which you get the feeling she would prefer anwyay)
