If Hillary wasn't running...would Bill have endorsed Barack?
The sad thing is, I actually think Bill would have been Barack's biggest supporter.

1. I doubt it. Bill's DLC, Obama is DNC.
The DLC/DNC thing is a major issue...I doubt Bill would have backed a DNCer.

13. Really? So why have so many DLC members endorsed Obama?
Including high-powered DLC members like Seblius, Richardson, and Ben Nelson? Do they know something the blogosphere doesn't?

3. So do I
There is a real irony here. Bill Clinton was touted as "the first Black President" because of his ability to connect with the Black community. Barack Obama is exactly the kind of candidate that his connection with the Black community helped make a reality.

That was then. This is now. They almost seem to be compelled to distance themselves from those connections with rhetoric that should go against their very grain.

4. He might have endorsed him, ala Gore & Kerry, but then the Clintons would undermine him.

5. The irony is that if Hill wasn't running, Obama wouldn't have had any traction.
She provides the foil to Obama's schtick.
We'd be looking forward to President Edwards.

11. Wow... umm, wasn't that Gore's decision?
Wasn't it Gore's decision not to have Bill campaign for him? Wasn't he worried that Bill would somehow hurt him? "Slime sluts" is pretty over the top.

14. No. As a former president he would have stayed neutral
Just like Carter always does and Bush 41 did in 1996 and 2008.
