This site is an open and bleeeding wound.

What I am reading (admittedly an unscientific poll but representative of so much of the "liberal" blogs, radio shows and the little cable TV representation they get...

1) If Obama supporters do not get exactly what they want, they will huff and puff and stay home on the first Tuesday on November this year...

2) If Hillary supporters do not get exactly what they want, they will huff and puff and turn out to vote for McCain on the first Tuesday in November this year...

3) NO WAY should there be only 1 - 2 percentage point differnence in the national polling between the GOP candidate and ANY Democrat at this point in 2008!

My prediction...

John McCain is the 44th president of the United States of America! And he has Democrats and "Independents" to thank for it. We are all working so hard out here to insure his victory.

We will have that to be proud of as our enduring accomplishment and legacy to the 21rst Century.

Not disheartened, just looking the facts in the face...

Look what he does to an embedded frontrunner when he takes them on.

The only reason it took this long to close on Ms Clinton was that she was a democrat and he wouldn't take the gloves off against a fellow democrat, now that she has been shown not to be the gloves are off and he is putting her down and out quickly and cleanly.

Also note he is doing so at what many would say is his arguably weakest moment in this campaign and yet at his weakest he barely went outside of a 3 point deviation of his poll numbers which has been the normal cycle ebb and flow.

Someone is doomed alright but you can guarantee its not Mr Obama nor the Democratic party.

14. I think it is a little early to say "We are soo doomed....". I mean, man there are so many

things & changes that will occur between now and when the general election takes place. Also, when the Dems have one candidate, rather that be Clinton or Barack, things will look a hell of a lot different then as well. The comparison between Barack & McCain will be such that Barack will have a huge lead. When he debates McCain, he will do dam good. With Hillary, it might be a little closer due to much less differences between her and McCain and their positions on Iraq being similar. However, she should beat him on the economy and that is the #1 issue right now and should be during the general election. The Dems will have all the money they want and need to run ads, whatever they need to inform the public on our candidate and what they need to put out on McCain. Regardless, we are not doomed.

Who said this would be a cake walk? McCain is the Repug candidate by default -- hardly any of the Rush or Hannity folks wanted him. And he is one of the worst Repug candidates ever, IMHO. Get a grip. Whether we have Clinton or Obama, we still have a lot of work to do. Stop crying, "We're doomed!" and get out and work to get the vote out!


Before now and November, we should all be:
1.) Making calls in support of either Dem candidate in states who have primary elections coming up
2.) Participating in Voter Registration Drives with local Democratic Party offices or other progressive groups who do such things
3.) Writing letters to the editors of various newspapers and magazines
4.) Talking with friends, neighbors, family, co-workers, etc. to get the word out that it is imperative that a Dem win in November.

There is plenty of time before November to flood the polls with Democratic voters -- something we need to do regardless of who the Dem nominee is.

42. Left Unspoken: The REAL Mind-Boggler

I've pretty much stayed out of the Obama/Clinton debate. Maybe that's because I'm still plagued with this nagging question: How the HELL did it come to this? Did anyone of you ever imagine that we'd be reduced to arguing about which of the remaining two Democratic candidates might have a BETTER CHANCE of beating John McCain? ANY ONE of the other candidates - Edwards, Richardson, Biden, Dodd, Gravel or yes, Kucinich would have been a shoo-in in November. Instead, we're left with having to choose between the two weakest, most vulnerable possible nominees. Clinton has always been the Republicans' dream opponent. Obama, though more problematic, was always their second choice. With help from the DLC and the Corporate Media, the Republicans have already ensured that, whoever "wins" in November, it will be business as usual. The war will go on for years. Forget about universal health care. No repeal of NAFTA. Or the Patriot Act. Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice et al will never be held accountable for their crimes.
Yes, I'll be voting for the Democratic nominee, whoever he or she may be. But I fear I will be pissing into the wind......
