Hillary had a choice. (Bosnia remarks)
She did not just "Misspeak". By Hillary Clinton and her advisers boiling down her Bosnia trip statement to misspeaking, they obfuscate the real crux of this issue.

Hillary was reading a pre-written speech the day she made her "misstatement". This was not an impromptu speech given off the cuff. These were carefully prepared remarks written for Hillary on the anniversary of the Iraq war. I will give the campaign credit for being skillful and careful in their writing to get their point across and to further their candidate in the primaries and to make her look strong, but someone lost all care with their writing and started manufacturing events.

At some point, Hillary had to have read her speech. I don't think any politician goes out and cold reads a speech that is supposed to have an impact on a highly emotional topic like Iraq. Apparently, Hillary saw no issue with the manufactured events in the speech and went along. If she had been honest, she could have left that out. It was anecdotal fluff to start out her speech, yet she chose to keep it in and play along with the charade.

Hillary had a choice. And she chose to "misstate" from the start.

Its obviously a lie, its just a matter of how far the MSM will take it.

4. She should have never went that route
She tries to outmacho people and it's a bad way to go. Everybody makes themselves out to be a little more than they are, doesn't matter who you are, but she made big mistakes by going to far on the tough-guy stuff. It came off about as ridiculous as when Billo claimed to have combat experience because he was reporting on war from another country. And her going over there and doing what she did is a very creditable and honorable thing. It was great that she went to Bosnia to visit troops, good for her, but she made a fool out of herself by making it sound like it was more dangerous than what it was.

I don't know much about where he is other than the Persian Gulf. It makes me sad and I worry for him and all of our men and women in this heinous war.

The fact is that this is another issue where Hillary went along. She had a choice and she made the wrong decision. It would have been stronger to stand up to Bush. That's what the people wanted and she turned her back. She doesn't seem to make very good decisions and is having a more difficult time making her case for foreign policy experience.

with smoke and mirrors! And FAKE TURKEYS! I am so worn out by all the play acting politicians do.
I do not feel any of Obama's presentations have that character. It is like comparing cotton to acrylics.

It is a climate where it is a-okay for a politician to put on a stage show and manufacture any scenario they believe will advance their status.

I believe the rest of the world has already tired of this pomp. Could it be American citizens are FINALLY willing to WAKE UP and GET REAL? That's where we are headed. The old energies will do everything they can to impede this progress. But it is unstoppable. Our Universe is geared towards extinction and new birth. We are experiencing the beginning of the labor pains.

The laggards of course will have their laggard leaders. Witness HRC and McSame.

That's what this is all about.

27. what got me was her defense of her statements....

When asked by the press about the discrepancy and Sinbad's comments saying there was no danger. Hillary insulted Sinbad and dismissed him as just a comedian making a joke, THEN went on to unequivocally state her memory of the specific incident was clear and to describe the cargo plane, the CANCELED ceremony, and running directly to their cars under sniper fire, with heads ducked.

She lied. Then defended the lie and restated it while proclaiming her memory clear and accurate.

There is no room to dodge this one.

IRAQ: Hillary's Remarks at The George Washingon University

==Good morning. I want to thank Secretary West for his years of service, not only as Secretary of the Army, but also to the Veteran’s Administration, to our men and women in uniform, to our country. I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia, and as Togo said, there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the First Lady. That’s where we went.

I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base...==

which teaches that if you lie blatantly, and get caught, the lie stays out there while the debunking fades.

The meme was "battle toughened Hillary", and that meme made it into the public discourse. Getting caught lying was unintended blowback.

64. This unintended blow back is what was needed.
If she is going to have any chance of winning the nomination and GE ever, she has to realize that no one gives a crap about the past. Experience doesn't count for shit when you are playing in a brand new arena will different rules of engagement. This is not the 90s political machine, and she might not even have a chance in 2012 if she doesn't start to understand that the world is a different place now and most people aren't looking to return to pre-Bush days.
