Hillary's Misdeeds Working On Judiciary Committee During Nixon Impeachment
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 12:34 PM by cryingshame
Here are the specifics regarding Hillary's supposed ethically flawed misdeeds according to Zeifman's diary which he states is available to the public at George Washington University Library.

It matters little what his allegiance is to the Democratic party if his recounting is bourn out by facts.

BTW, Zeifman's take of the situation resonates with today's dilemma with Bush-

According to Zeifman, Hillary was put in her position by those Democrats who wanted to keep Nixon in office for as long as possible to help tilt coming elections as far as possible to the Left.
.......................................................................................................................................

Hillary was assigned to confer regarding rules of procedure for the impeachment inquiry.

At their 1st meeting, she was told by Zeifman that all principles involved (Judiciary Committee Chairman, House Speaker, Majority Leader , Parliamentarian) had previously agreed to rely on then existing House Rules, and not advocate any changes.

I also quoted Tip O'Neill's statement that: "To try to change the rules now would be politically divisive. It would be like trying to change the traditional rules of baseball before a World Series."

Hillary assured me that she had not drafted, and would not advocate, any such rules changes. However, as documented in my personal diary, I soon learned that she had lied. She had already drafted changes, and continued to advocate them.

....................................................................................................................................

Here are the changes that Hillary came up with and advocated for:

1. In one written legal memorandum, she advocated denying President Nixon representation by counsel. In so doing she simply ignored the fact that in the committee's then most recent prior impeachment proceeding, the committee had afforded the right to counsel to Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas.

2. I had also informed Hillary that the Douglas impeachment files were available for public inspection in the committee offices. She later removed the Douglas files without my permission and carried them to the offices of the impeachment inquiry staff -- where they were no longer accessible to the public.

Hillary had also made other ethical flawed procedural recommendations arguing that the Judiciary Committee should:

1. not hold any hearings with "" or take depositions of -- any live witnesses;
2. not conduct any original investigation of Watergate, bribery, tax evasion, or any other possible impeachable offense of President Nixon;
3. rely solely on documentary evidence compiled by other committees and by the Justice Departments special Watergate prosecutor .

Only a few far left Democrats supported Hillary's recommendations.

A majority of the committee agreed to allow President Nixon to be represented by counsel and to hold hearings with live witnesses.

Hillary then advocated that the official rules of the House be amended to deny members of the committee the right to question witnesses. This recommendation was voted down by the full House. The committee also rejected her proposal that we leave the drafting of the articles of impeachment to her and her fellow impeachment inquiry staffers.

Then there is more about what was done with a group of findings compiled by her group but it's been snipped for lucidity

17. Who the hell cares? It could have happened in the 1870s. He still had the right to counsel.

4. Am I correct that Hillary....
...dates her alleged 35 years of experience back to AFTER her service on this committee?

Seems real odd to me....if I am correct about the time frame.

15. Funny how this article elevates the lowest staffer to a such a high position.
What a pile of poop.

If she made any assertions about Nixon's right to counsel it was because someone asked her to research it and draw up a position paper. Not "her" position paper but "a" position paper.

Hillary would be very surprised to read this drivel and find out how "important" she was back then.

10. I'm not familiar with Mr. Zeifman, but I googled him and found this blog.
Here's one entry that gives me pause for thought.

On January 22, 2008 I published an article describing a dream I had in which I
“interviewed” Mrs. Roosevelt – who endorsed Barack Obama for the Democratic
nomination for President. Last night the former First Lady came again to me in
dream. Following is a sequel to our prior conversation.

http://www.jzeifman.com/

Without some corroboration, I will take the rest of the info you posted with a grain of salt.

you'll have to disprove Hillary's action while working for the Judiciary Committee.

Sounds like the facts are on the historical record.

No matter WHAT spin Zeifman or anyone else puts on those actions.

And hasn't Hillary herself channeled Eleanor Roosevelt?

11. Hillary's "early career" is riddled with incidents such as this.. dishonesty and a willingness
to do anything, run over anyone, to get ahead. As now, its all about power and the quest for it.
