Bush Holds Slight Lead In Ohio

In Ohio, the latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds President Bush with 46% of the vote to 44% for Sen. John Kerry. The poll's margin of error is +/- 4%. In the 2000 election, Bush won Ohio by a margin of 50% to 46% over Al Gore.

is a real "democracy champion" with a potty mouth... I just crack up every day when I listen to her. I like Al Franken very much too, but Randi has a directness all her own.

4. The whole state isn't stupid.

My corner of it is full of mouth-breathers, though. They're the kind of people who can have a kid in Iraq, no job and no health insurance and still be optimistic that Bush* is going to improve things just over the horizon. Unfortunately, they vote too, and overwhelmingly straight-ticket Republican, even when it's the electoral equivalent of cutting off their noses to spite their faces. I hope the northeastern part of the state can save us, because SW Ohio has more than its share of political idiots.

7. I hate to break this to you saracat . . .

But a lot of Ohio residents -- hell, a lot of Americans -- simply don't look at the world in the same why you do. While DU'ers are inclined to view Bush as, at the very best incompetent, and at the very worst, evil incarnate, many Americans (but not me, by the way) see Bush as a decent and principled leader and the one candidate who is standing up for their values and their way of life. These people simply aren't going to be swayed by bad economic news. I'd say that these people make up around 45% of the electorate, and in some states, their numbers are even greater.

according to this same poll. Ohio is going to be the target state this election. Whoever wins it will be the next president, imo.

And Bush's lead is within the margin of error in this new poll. People should keep in mind Bush got 50 percent of the vote in 2000 in Ohio, and now he's only polling at 46 percent. That's enough of a decline to cost him the state.
