Poll question: Gun Control Policy Poll (same answers, different situation)
Let's say Kerry, sometime between now and the election, announces that he's more convinced than ever that gun control is important

- He announces that he wants to extend the assault weapons ban to include all types of repeat fire weapons that are not used for hunting.

- He announces that he will hold gun retailers legally responsible for deaths of those killed by guns the retailer sold illegally

- He announces that all guns must be registered in a manner similar to automobiles

- He announces that he will use the full power of the justice department to bust up illegal weapons dealers and cartels.

What would you do?

1. if he does that
he might as well take one of those currently banned weapons and shoot himself -- PAY ATTENTION TO THE MAIN GOAL -- if your house is on fire, you don't make remodeling plans -- YOU PUT THE DAMN FIRE OUT FIRST

4. I would DEFINITELY vote for him and work to get him elected...
...but just because it would be so funny when he finds out just how little many people think of Washington and basically tell him and his clan to go piss up a rope.

5. John Kerry and Firearms

He's just too pompous----total failure to 'connect' with the American people. We're going to loose another election..................it's time someone in the Democratic leadership woke up to the fact that most Americans believe that they have a personal and individual right to keep and bear firearms.

6. "time someone in the Democratic leadership woke up"
They wake up to the fact occasionally but they just keep hitting the snooze button.

8. We better all vote for Kerry.....
Because with that platform, Bush would win in a landslide.

10. I'd still vote for him
because I doubt any of that would get through Constitutional challenges.

But with my vote and a quarter he'd still only carry DC, unless they give Berkeley and Cambridge electoral votes.

13. Constitutional challenge or not, he would still spend a lot...
...of political capital trying to get his measures passed and in 2006 we would see another election year like 1994.

14. Assuming he got elected in the first place.
He'd even lose support here at DU running on that platform.

11. Why do we always have to push more Gun Control?
So called "common sence" gun laws always come up with my co-workers, and their disgust for them. We are union workers, and feel that issue, keeps costing us elections. I wish our lawmakers would shift their concerns toward punishing lawbreakers, instead of us lawful gun owners.

I don't wish to argue the 2nd Ammendment. However, I don't believe "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" was just for hunting firearms.
