Wes Clark advised Richard Clarke to go public
The following is from the new issue of Vanity Fair. Not available on line, and I haven't seen the magazine yet--got this from a friend in another group, so don't shoot me if it's not 100% accurate. But it's good to see that Dick Clarke is not gonna let the issue die. Kerry doesn't seem inclined to push it--probably saw how Clark was castigated for "blaming" Bush for 9/11.

"Clarke recently had coffee with General Wesley Clark, who was at the time considering a run for president and who had his own issues with the invasion of Iraq. In 2002, Clark, who had been commander of NATO forces during the war in Kosovo, wrote Waging Modern War, a book critical of many Pentagon officials. After learning of Clarke's possible memoir, the general said, "It was an awful thing to write a book...in terms of conflicting loyalties. But he told me some of the things that had happened to him, and I said, 'Dick, this is a story you simply must tell...You must tell this story.'" General Clark knew that inevitably things would get personal once the book was out. "You're dealing with the highest maters of state...and the future of the United States of America...Of course it's personal...This is a real issue with the lives of our countrymen at stake," he says. The general reckoned his friend's hide was thick enough to take it." pg. 161-162.

29. Lest you want your children to end up in Gitmo,
your wife outed from the CIA, and your attorney brother detained on 'material witness' charges for a bombing in Peru...

Look, he was even advising high-ranking members of the Bush Administration! The man is a neocon plant, I tells ya! :hi:

3. Clark is also friends with Paul O'Neil, another Bush refugee
Maybe he gave O'Neil a nudge, too. And now, hopefully, he can introduce his pal George Tenet to a different kind of agent...

I think it doesn't matter if Kerry names this guy VP or Secretary of Dog-Catching -- he's not going to let up until Bush is safely out of the White House.

5. Clark is one tough hombre
And probably isn't the least bit scared of the Bushies.

Clark may be the most efficient person of any party to "aid and abet" the leaving of the more moderate GOPers in Bush's White House, which will leave only the creepy neo-cons who cannot even begin to defend their position as it directly conflicts with many of the standard Republican ideals (deficit reduction, Constitutional purity, etc.)

9. Tough hombre? You bet, and then some
A guy who took 4 bullets and kept commanding his troops? Who grabbed a rope and rappelled down a cliff amid gun fire and mines, to try and save friends and subordinates in a burning APC? Yeah, you could say he's tough. Physically, mentally, AND emotionally.

It's like Bob Scales said in that FAUX news interview when Hume was trying to slam the general on the evening he declared his candidacy: "If you can lead solders in combat and if you can deal with the lives of young men and women, you have put up with just about as much stress as any human being can be asked to put up with. I think he's going to be OK."

There's nothing the Rovians can throw at Clark that even compares with what he's been thru already: sending American men and women into combat, busting his ass to minimize civilian casualties, sometimes causing them anyway, seeing first-hand the results of ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo, trying to prevent more of it, somtimes failing, feeling the guilt of not having done more to stop the Rwanda massacres.

That's something people don't always remember or understand about guys like Clark and Kerry--they've been thru hell. This is just politics.

I think the only thing that scares Clark is that they might not succeed in getting Bush out. But he's damn sure gonna know he did everything humanly possible to make it happen.

7. THIS is what's important to Wes Clark>>>>>>>>>
"You're dealing with the highest maters of state...and the future of the United States of America

He KNOWS what the cabal is up to. He knows about PNAC. He is on a quest to save our country. He can BEST do that if he's the VP. He will help Kerry win in Nov. and then he can start cleaning house.

8. When Clarke's book came out
Kerry had Wes out on the news shows and Wes was making it crystal clear that he knew Richard Clarke very well and Clarke was an honorable civil servant and not a partisan hack for anybody, although that's how they were trying to paint him.

25. When we have Wes Clark...why do people still talk about
needing/wanting McCain? Why hasn't Kerry gobbled him up immediately?
Is he really vetting out all those other guys? Or maybe I'm just predjudice...just maybe.

26. Graham has a book coming out on 9/11 too
Senator Bob Graham, that is. Says "he hopes to have the book completed before the elections."
http://www.thehill.com/news/061004/graham.aspx

Hopes?? HOPES!!! He'd better damn well have it written, published, and in the voters' hands long enough before the election for them to have read it. And maybe have gotten some air-time on 60 minutes to boot. Otherwise, WTF?

I know Wes Clark has mentioned having another book out in September, but I'm not sure what it will be about. Gonna rip BushCo, of that much I AM sure.
