And Now for Something Different - What I'd like in a Kerry Admin

I'd like for John Kerry to appoint Max Cleland as head of the Veterans Administration and give him carte blanche to crack heads and clean that mess up.

I'd like for John Kerry to appoint Howard Dean as DNC chair. Let somebody else stroke the big donors behind the scenes. The good doctor has survived his "trial by fire" with the media and should do a good job at getting the grassroots folks to come out and support candidates and recruit others. Plus I want to see him swat Ed Gillespie upside the head.

I'd like for John Kerry to send Bill Clinton to the Middle East and tell him to get everybody in a room and don't come out until there's a solution. Clinton's got the force of personality to get it done and he truly understands the history and issues in the region.

Good ideas. I think he needs to add plenty of diversity, though, if the Democrats want to stay relevant in future elections. Certainly some women, and some people of color. Granted, it shouldn't be the only criteria, but it would be an enormous step forward for American politics. We can't let the fucking BUSH ADMINISTRATION have more diversity than the Kerry administration.

Max Cleland sounds like a good VA Administrator, I'd like to see maybe Gephardt in labor? He deserves something for all he's done for the party, though I don't know if he'd want to spend more time in Washington (seems to me that after all this time, he'd want to sit in a hot tub for a good bit or something!). We should also give some spots to our rising stars - John Edwards is a must. If he can't be VP, I'd like him to be in a spot where he can return to NC and run for governor.

6. Why would he run for Governor if he's already been in the Senate?

I see them as being kind of equal. After all, people did want Dianne Feinstein to be governor in California, and though I guess going from Governor to Senate is more frequent, I don't think it's too weird.

If he's VP, then he can run for President, of course. If he's a cabinet member, it's harder to go anywhere except the VPship.

11. Two different types of jobs

Governors can actually build a resume, and it would be a much better springboard than VP if he wants to run for the nomination again someday.

But at the very least, he should get that job. And as far as the middle east thing goes, I think we should send Bill Clinton to go over there and LITERALLY smack some sense into those guys. Then he can use his diplomatic skills to work out the fine points.

7. Do what Kennedy did to the steel industry

Call in all the heads of the pharmaceutical industry, and unleash hell on them on the carpet of the Oval Office, telling them that they WILL be supporting universal health care, or he's cracking down on all of them.

And, believe me, if he funds the FDA like it should be, every single pharm company in this country would be getting very nasty letters and fines.

if he has a hostile Congress; 2 or more if he has a friendly Congress.
