I still think Kerry should choose Dean as VP
I know that many think this is a bad idea. But Dean could bring some new voters to the ballot box and could be a big help for raising funds. Standard policy is to use geography to pick. To try and shore up a state that may be hard to win. But this typically doesn't work; note Lloyd Bentson in 1988 didn't help Dukakis and many thought it a mistake for Clinton to pick another southerner with Al Gore. So I wish he would throw political caution to the wind and choose Dean.
I think it would be great for the Dem party and America and I feel that Dean could be an asset to Kerry in the West Coast states where he was very popular.

1. Rove would spend millions
to air the "Dean scream" on TV in the last month of the campaign and make the undecided nervous. No thanks. Next........

2. "throw political caution to the wind"
Not really a good idea in an election this important.

Unfortunately, fair or not, Dean's "scream" defined him to the media and to a lot of voters. I think it's just too much to overcome at this point and that Dean would hurt the ticket.

3. True
The Dean scream killed his candidacy.

I'd go with Edwards to help excite the base and young voters.

People seem to respond well to that optimism thing, and it worked well for Reagan while he was stabbing us all in the back.

4. I agree AH...I think that Dean inspired almost as well as Al Gore.

But you know, it's all about who's marketable these days, not principles, as you can see with our current thief in the office. I think it would be a bold move for Kerry to take along with him someone he believes will make not only a great VP but after he heals this country, someone who can carry on the legacy. To me, that could be Dean. It would show that Kerry was making decisions and not allowing his PR people to make them for him. But then again, what do I know, I just vote. We're much more worried about Mr. Rove and his bully antics about a scream. We're so mature. Ug. I'd gladly put a

"I'll scream for Kerry/Dean 2004!" bumper sticker on my car.

5. I think Dean is good where he is

As much as I like Dean, I would be afraid of him blowing it by making a careless remark if he was on the ticket. He can probably do more good where he is, raising funds through Democracy for America and being a political attack dog without worrying about what the media will make of it.

6. Respectfully disagree.
However, I feel deeply that the man should have a plum appointed position in JK's administration. He has earned it.
