Any chance of a Kerry - Gore ticket?
Just curious. If not, why?

I don't know, if it's been discussed to death here already, but I usually hang around in Latest Breaking News. So, if it has, sorry I missed it.

2. No
For one thing, Gore backed Dean in the primaries.

For another, Gore has already served as VP -- he's moved on.

Third, Gore wouldn't make the ticket stronger. He's got even more baggage than Kerry does.

Fourth, if you think Kerry's gotten lousy press coverage so far, just imagine how bad it would be if he picked Gore.

6. Yes
but not an emphatic "Yes." I have my own favorite, but I do think Gore would make an excellent VP

You say Gore backed Dean. So what? It's politics, that's all. Has Gore NOT backed Kerry since then? If not, do you expect him to snub Kerry? Hardly.

You say Gore has already served? Yes! As a result, he has the most experience at the job. Has he moved on? Perhaps, but to what? The only thing left is POTUS. If you've tasted sugar, tried for honey, but got stung before you got a chance to enjoy a taste, does that mean you can't go back for the sugar if it's offered? :)

You say Gore wouldn't make the ticket stronger? I disagree. Gore is the most experienced Dem around. He's from a Southern state, and has been coming on like gangbusters recently. Gore garnered more votes than any Dem ever, and is the only Dem around who has eve beaten Bush in an election.

You say Gore has baggage? Well, he is the President in exile. He does remind everyone of the 2000 election theft, but thats good, IMO. On the other hand, he did invent the internet, lie about Love Story, discover Love Canal, and grow up in a fancy hotel, so maybe...

What? Those were (gulp) LIES? Proven lies? hmmm...seems that baggage may be a bit light.

An finally, you say Gore would bring lousy press coverage? Well, what Dem will get good press? the press are bastards, owned and operated by the Right. Yet Gore has already been vetted, the press has already lied and admitted their lies. Gore has NO secrets, no surprises.

Fuck the press. We'll not win this because of them, we'll win it in spite of them.

Other than that, I prefer Dean or Clark.

4. Why would President Gore settle for vice?
He is our president now so why settle for second chair?

10. No.
And it is still true.No fire in the belly. C'mon ,the Repugs were going to fight if they lost the electoral college and won the popular vote. Why wouldn't we have a contingency plan? If we didn't see this coming ,it was bad politics, and I don't believe that they wouldn't think the repugs cpable of anything.Look what they did to McCain.I am NOT enbarassed and you should be for attempting to call me on it.The facts speak for themselves. And Gore didn't run again when he had the moral highground and the party behind him. He's a wimp and no new speech will change it.Too little ,too late.

11. Oh come on, Gore took it as far as he could in 2000
even if he had won the SCOTUS battle, he still had the Florida state leg to fight, and they promissed to send Bush electors to the EC. Unfortunately, that is their right. Gore could do nothing, and I don't remember anyone rioting in the streets to protest the theft. We have only ourselves to blame.

As far as 2004 was concerned, its easy for you to sit behind a computer and pretend to know all the reasons why Gore stayed out of the race, because it doesn't cost you anything. You risk nothing. Also, to say that in 2004 Gore had the party behind him is an incredible exageration!

Hell, the party didn't even support Gore in 2000. The man went populist, and the party went "Bye Bye!" Lack of party support (against all common sense) is perhaps one of Gore's best reasons for NOT running. Sheesh.

13. Al didn't "go" populist
He is.

I'm an Al Gore lover from further back than most of you know.

Al Gore was my first - and now only second - political crush.

Hell, at least I pick 'em smart.

14. Forgive my choice of words...
lets say that Gore took a populist stance, and the party "leaders" blew him off. Fair enough Scoopie?

The two aren't friends and aren't close. Gore adds nothing to the ticket and he doesn't want to be Veep again - the only reason he was Veep the first time was so he could get the chance to run for President in '00.

17. Reagan and George H. W. weren't friends either.
That's not a criteria for VP is it? Were Gore and Clinton "friends?"

appeasement. Not his finest hour.

16. May not have been his finest hour, but he won.
Everybody keeps forgetting that. I saw a freeper on TV today talking about how he had his chance once and "we" said "we" didn't want him in office. Hmmmm... "WE" didn't say that. The Supreme Court did.

18. The supreme court said it?
Actually, wasn't Gore the one who conceded the presidency rather than fight for what was rightfully his? That's not the kind of guy I want as president or VP.
