President Bush and Democrat John Kerry are visiting key states in the presidential campaign today, with Bush speaking in Florida about Iraq and Kerry appearing in Ohio to propose an increase in the child care tax credit.

Bush traveled Wednesday morning to MacDill Air Force Base near Tampa, delivering a speech that was broadcast live via satellite to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The speech at the base, home of the United States Central Command, also was carried on Armed Forces Radio and TV.

In the address, Bush worked to persuade doubters that Iraq is on its way to self-rule despite persistent incidents of violence.

"Our coalition is standing firm. New Iraq's leaders are not intimidated. I will not yield and neither will the new leaders of Iraq," Bush said.
