127, 470 signatures turned in today for Rush Holt. Picture.
"Democracy For America came through in a big way for this event, and provided a great charge to the Congressmen and assembled guests with the presentation of a petition signed by 127,470 Americans who believe in the integrity of every vote.

Congressman Holt was thrilled with the petition, affirming our belief that only with a truly accountable, verifiable and audited voting system can democracy prevail. Democracy For America has been at the forefront of this battle, and your signatures send a clear message to Congress: we need verifiable voting, and we need it now."

1. Great news. Thanks for this, MadFlo. Dobbs had segment on DC rally...
Dobbs is on this big time, and his segment tonight, with both Holt and (CA Sec St) Shelley was excellent.

Holt even used the line I pushed for the LWV convention -- from Reagan -- "Trust but verify!"

3. I heard a few hundred. It got almost NO publicity.
I did google search yesterday, and got nothing. It was publicized at a couple of websites. I posted it here, and it got ignored basically.

The media just will not cover voting stuff and Democrats. As Randi Rhodes said earlier.....how many Democrats have you seen on TV lately?

They are on at times, relatively short periods.

6. But it DID get important play on Lou Dobbs
He had film from the rally. The turnout looked impressive. His segment was about 10 minutes and Lou made it eminently clear he was all for VVPBs.

8. If I were Rush Holt, I'd give DeLay some of his own medicine
I mean he ought to get on the House floor with a special order speech lambasting the Rethug leadership, accusing (truly) them of acting like mobsters in their refusal to do the will of the American people by allowing the bill requiring paper trails for a vote.

I'd also mention outright--even at the expense of my career--that the Rethug leadership are no better than common criminals, tyrants, and bullies, albeit criminals, tyrants, and bullies protected by the organized crime racket better known as the Republican Party, or GOP.
